Default Parking C5 convertible for the day?

I'm going to take my girlfriend to Catalina Island, and will be parking it next to the ferry port in Long Beach for the day, or longer if we get a hotel on the island.

I'm just kinda worried about leaving my car there, would hope Long Beach is safe.

I think it would be more fun and comfortable than her PT Cruiser.

Am I just worrying for no reason?

Anything can happen anywhere at anytime......insure it and go where you want, or take the PT Cruiser.

Sometime you have no choice if you want to enjoy your car to the fullest. Just try to park it in the safest spot possible. Been there.

I don't know the area, but in general look for an end spot to limit exposure to opening doors and have fun. Life and vacations are too short to worry about the little stuff.

If you are worried, and this trip is more about the destination then the trip to the ferry.. overnight, hotel etc.. if it were me and I was concerned.. I would rent a car for a few days.. and enjoy the trip without worrying at the hotel about how your car is doing back at the ferry parking lot.. only you can answer if you are going to be worried enough to take the edge off the trip. Because you brought it here.. I would say you are concerned enough to leave it home.

If you worry about it all the time, the enjoyment is gone. As mentioned, just park it in the safest spot possible.

I think I'll just drive it, more fun, plus I think it gets better mpg than her PT Cruiser, as it has the T56.

If something were to happen oh well, that's what insurance is for.

By the way, I'm going to have to do a lot of maintenance, the car has not been driven since May 2013, I ended up driving the daily driver all the time.

I never meant to park it that long, but it happened, GF is excited about going in the Corvette, she has never rode in one.

You might have to sell it first to afford anything they sell on Catalina Island.

Park it in a well lighted and exposed area. Should be fine.

That would be my choice. I bought my C5 to drive, not look at. I have taken it on several 1200+ mile trips and one 3500 mile road trip. For me getting there is half the fun and nothing is better than driving the Vette. I had to park it many times all day and over night. Just use common sense and have fun. I had zero problems.

Car cover with a lock on it?

Just be careful with the winds, if the inside of the car cover is not microfiber, it can leave microscratches in the paint from rubbing up against it with the wind.

I think that would draw too much attention to it. A car with a car cover in a parking lot is going to attract every low life within a mile.

Just drive it. Disaster can strike with it parked at your house under a car port or in a garage, and there will always be more Corvettes. Enjoy it while you can because we'll all be six feet under one day and it'll be forever and a day before C5s are worth anything.

I have owned my 02 vert for about 5 years. To this date I have never locked the door. Nothing of value inside, the car is insured and easily replaceable. Park it, forget about it and go have fun.

I used to leave my old chevelle vert unlocked as I was told by older wiser vert owners that the thieves will just cut your top to get your stereo. Not too many people steal stereos anymore....I do lock my Vette, even with top down, to keep people out of the trunk. I just don't leave anything of value in sight. If they break in it will be a total guess and take more effort.
