How many of you have been able to share your car with Mom or Dad???

My parents drove me to pick up the car. Mom was the first one to ride in it, Dad was the first one besides me to drive it. I think they might have had more fun than me that day - as Dad said, it's always more fun to go spend someone else's money.
I've definitely had more fun since though.

My dad was the first person I let drive mine after I purchased it a couple years ago. He didn't believe me at first that I had bought it until I tossed him the keys. I think he liked running thru the gears lol

Great story about your mom in your GTO.
It reminded me about my mom in my GTO. It was a '64 GTO 4 speed with a modified 421.
She needed to borrow it one day, so she was going to drop me off and keep the car for the day. At a traffic light when it turned green she accidentally spun the tires pretty hard. She didn't know what happened and said "ooooooooooooh what was that noise?" I couldn't stop laughing.

In '94 I remember bombing down the autobahn with my Dad in his gold 89 C4, went to shows around the area, even won of few trophies. Sadly time came to sell it in '96 when we moved.
Fast forward to '09 when I bought my Dad a plane ticket to Las Vegas and picked up my '01 Z06. We hit the road the following morning and took turns driving through some incredible scenery all the way up to ND. We loved every minute and he still talks about driving through the twisties. Ya... def some of my best memories with my Dad, and I'm very thankful he's still around. As for my mom she isn't a huge fan of going really fast, so I just took her for a quick trip around their neighborhood, and she commented how she couldn't believe her son bought a Corvette. It was awesome.

Lost my dad when I was f our before there was even a. Corvette. In 1972 I bought a 1969 427 four speed convertible. Shortly afterwards I broke my left ankle pretty bad. Not being able to drive my car I would have mom drive it to keep the battery up., she was 67 at the time. Everytime she would come back home she was all smiles and would tell me about the comments she had received. Lost her in 1997 and miss her everyday. I still have that car today along with my 1999 FRC.

Great thread! The first thing I did when I bought my Vette was to head over to my Mother's house. She's 83 years old but that didn't stop her from wanting to get in the drivers seat She can't drive a manual or she probably would have left with it.

Last Father's Day I took my dad to mass in it.... he was shocked that I drive it to church. He loves riding in it.... not a car guy per se, but he loves the wind whipping through his hair....well what's left of it. Mom has had both knees replaced and she hasn't got in it yet, but I will try to get her in it this weekend.

Great stories... I still haven't told my parents that I bought the C5Z... (just bought it a few months ago). I'm just not in the mood for a lecture about saving for retirement... LOL But yes... I AM saving, despite my fleet of vehicles. Since we live on opposite sides of the country, there's not much chance of them finding out... provided I don't post pictures on social media. I had an A/C Cobra for 8 years... that I sold a year and a half ago. Wasn't long before I got the yen for a new toy. I made a tidy profit when I sold the Cobra, so the financial hit on the C5Z purchase was not bad at all. Took my dad for a ride in the Cobra years ago... think he got a kick out of it.
I'm in my early 50s... my parents are in their mid 70s... lost all my grandparents in a 6 month timeframe about 2 years ago... all in their mid 90s. My grandfather & I were VERY competitive when it came to cars. He had a slew of Mercury Grand Marquis' over the years (quintessential South Florida retiree car). Late 2001, I pulled up to their house in '98 Lincoln Mark VIII LSC (Spring Feature Edition, 1 of 117). Grandpa was quite taken with it. Less than 2 weeks later, he had a new Town Car in the garage... he was NOT going to let me upstage him! I miss him every day... but he's always with me... I have his last car... (2008 Mercury Grand Marquis, 30k miles)

Drifting
Shortly after getting mine I drove it to my parents. I drove my mother in the car first. I then went to take my step-father for a ride later, suffered from column lock issues, and the car was stranded with 2 MPH fuel cutoff. It then sat for a few days until I got a CLB in and was drive-able again.
We then celebrated by wearing some of the tread off the rear tires.

Dad always ask each Spring
Are you bringing the corvette? When I pick him up once it's out of hybernation. Mom only has seen it from above, never had a chance to feel the speed.

Safety Car
This is the only one I got....My dad worked P/T after he retired at a Chevy Dealer which was owned by good friends of our family. He rode with me a couple of times but because of his age and ailments he had a hard time getting in and out. He left us in 2015. My mom passed in 08 so she never got to see this one i have now.

Dad is dead, and Mom says in a hysterical voice banging her fist on the table - "Your behavior is INSANE!!! And she means it! She thinks my care of my 'Vette is absolutely crazy.
It's funny. Neither of my parents were car people, and for me it's my life's passion. I don't even try to tell her there are millions of people that feel the same way as I do. BTW, my mother just turned 90.
