Where to find 120 RC Battery?
Hey all, I've done lots of researching around the forum for battery recommendations and it seems that the general consensus is to aim for a battery with 120 RC (although ACDelco seems to recommend 95).
I have a 2004 coupe. Group 86 battery with top posts.
My issue is that I have searched local auto stores (online) up and down and the best I can find is 100. This includes:
So now I'm at a loss - do I go with the NAPA because it's the highest available? :\

- O'Reilly Super Start Extreme (95 RC)
- Advance AutoCraft Gold (95 RC)
- Autozone Odyssey (89 RC)
- Autozone Duralast Gold (95 RC)
- NAPA The Legend Premium AGM (100 RC)
- Walmart EverStart Maxx (95 RC)
- Sears Diehard Gold (85 RC)
- OPTIMA Red Top (90 RC)
So now I'm at a loss - do I go with the NAPA because it's the highest available? :\

I just put a AC Delco Pro 650 CCA, 95 RC in my 04.
No problems.
If I remember reading it correctly the 120 RC was recommended more the the early C5 models with the side post battery but I could be wrong.
I was in the same boat you are in and everything I researched leaned towards the battery I installed.
Good Luck
No problems.

For my '01 a minimum of 90 RC was recommended.

I just installed one of these. It is identical to my previous Sears Die Hard Platinum (which was made by Odyssey but no longer available from Sears). Not cheap, but the best I have had so far. 850 CCA and 135 RC...

That should meet all the OP's requirements. Probably don't need a battery tender with that one.

2004 is the only year for the C5 that uses the top mount (group 86) battery. I am using a Bosch in mine. Been working fine for over six years now. Also have it on a battery tender when not driving it for a while.

I am sure it is a great battery. I looked at that battery, since I put my C5 battery into my pickup last fall and was going to buy a new one for the Vette this spring. They are plenty spendy. Today I bought an Exide again since I haven't had any problems with them and it was less than half the cost. Fits my needs and I use a tender..

I have the Sears DieHard Platinum battery in mine too and it is about 6.5 years old now. Since they do not make the Platinum series anymore, I'll probably go with the Odyssey PC1500DT as mentioned by Choreo when the current battery goes bad.

120RC and 700CCA for $129.88
I just had to replace my battery. I had your dilemma also. I finally found a 34/78 that fits my 2002 C5 perfectly. It is a dual, top and side mount battery with a free 3 yr replacement. It is a Duracell AGM. It was $130 at Sam's Club or you can get it with a 4 yr replacement at Batteries Plus for $200.

Only places I could find them at were "online" stores. Amazon sells them, BatteryMart, etc., but I got mine from 4WheelParts - fair price, fast 2-day delivery and I have used them for several other hard to find parts for my C5 (like high-wattage 135/90 H4 Headlight bulbs for my Euro enclosures).

PS. I have had a Bosch battery in my 2004 for a couple of years now with no problems!
