I want to swap to a C6 shifter.. how do I do that???
I broke the C5 retaining pin trying to get my shifter out today and while trying to drill the piece to get it out, I damaged the leather from my C5 shifter ****.
I've seen a bunch of folks with the C6 shifter **** on their C5's and it looks much better IMO. I also would think if would feel better. How did you guys get them to fit in your C5?
BTW, I have a hurst short throw shifter. Any info to help me get one for my car would be greatly appreciated.

the oem c6 **** uses a torx screw in the side and does not screw on like the c5 so either you would need a shifter handle designed for a c6 **** or there was a company making c6 style ***** that thread onto a c5 handle but I can't remember who makes them... you might also try contacting hurst and see if they sell handles separately for the c6 and then you can get an oem ****

There are actually two versions of the C6 shifter. 2004 to 2007 and 2008 and up. The later version uses a twist lock to connect the shift boot directly to the bottom of the ****. I used a 2008 shifter mechanism and **** and purchased a 2008 boot assembly. I remover the boot from the 2008 plastic mounting ring and fitted it to the C5 shifter boot plastic mounting ring. It looks really good as the 2008 boot has a chrome trim piece at the top that is part of the twist lock mechanism.
The ***** are not interchangeable between the two different versions. In addition to the mounting locations for the locking screws being in different locations on the shifter shaft the background for the shift pattern is different. I'd send pix but I'm on the road.

Instead of keeping the C5 shifter you might want to consider upgrading to a C6 shifter mechanism. It's a direct replacement.

well you said mgw shifter... when I bought my mgw there were options for c5 and c6... c5 uses threaded ***** and c6 uses a torx bolt so you need to get the correct handle for whichever **** you plan to use... the mgw shifter itself is the same... if you want to buy an oem c6 shifter you just need the correct ****
