LED headlight bulbs for those who have them! NOT for HID bulb users!
Alright I bought a set of 9006 LED bulbs that I was going to use in my '94 Chevy truck, but instead I sold the truck and never had them installed. So I'm going to use them in my Z06 but have a question for those who may currently use an LED headlight bulb.
do you have the commonly associated issue as HID's do with your headlights not going down when turning off your headlights with LED's? I google'd it and saw a couple threads that were 2-4 years old and it doesnt seem like anyone had mentioned any issues with that like you get with HID's and if so that is great!
thanks

i have not heard of many running the led's to be honest..99% of the people who run aftermarket lights are either using off the box store "upgraded" bulbs or running an hid kit in there car's but i am really curious as how the light output compare's from led to hid my self

You're probably going to have clearance issues depending on the bulb. The good bright bulbs that we offer for the C6 fogs are slightly bigger (with the cooling fans). We tried to offer these in our projectors for high beams, but they wouldn't fit in the tight area.
You'll likely have that issue with the lids going down as well.
Let us know how it works. I don't believe many have tried the newer led bulbs in the C5. I'm curious on how they work out.

I just installed some yesterday from Auxbeam. They fit fine and seemed to dramatically increase the total amount of light on the road. Mine do not draw enough wattage to allow the headlights to drop when switched off. I ordered an inline load resistor for $7 to load the circuit enough to get the lights to drop.
I'm very apprehensive about running HID in halogen housings for heat accumulation and blinding oncoming traffic. LED seemed like a cheap compromise.

You can grind down the tabs around the bulb and inside where the socket plugs in to make a 9005 high-beam fit in a 9006 socket. While it does provide more light, it also glares terribly for oncoming traffic and overloads the circuit (65W vs 55W). I don't know if C5s would have an issue with the extra load - my Camry was OK with it, but I have heard of it damaging the harness on some cars. Overall it's kind of pointless when you'd get more usable light from a 9012 HIR.
Edit: has anyone checked the sockets to see if they get full battery voltage? If not setting up a relay could help with brightness.
