Default ** Oil pressure @ 129 P.S.I. - YIKES! **

Hey guys - '98 manual 'vert - I got in car other day and oil pressure gage was pegged all way around to right @ 600kPa (Canadian car) and DIC says it was 888 kPa/129 P.S.I. ....... now I assume faulty gage but has anyone else had this problem and it was something else such as a sensor, fuse, sending unit, etc. ? ........as always, thanx in advace for any insight you may give

Likely the sending unit, they are known to fail. There are many posts here about how to change them, not fun or easy

Yes, it sounds like the oil pressure sending unit has gone bad in your car. There are a lot of threads and videos available to help you out on this problem. Use the search function and enter oil pressure sensor and you should get quite a few hits.

Look for my post from just the other day on this exact issue. It's not as big a deal as you think.

When the oil pressure sending unit went bad in my '99, it would show 80 psi and read 130 psi in the DIC, with the ignition on, but the engine not started or running!
