Safety Car
that is problem when most of the people who buy corvette's ..they don't have any respect for the power that the car is capable of and when they try to use it stuff like the in the video happens...spend a few hours on a track for a weekend and you will have a new found respect for your sports car...

In all honesty, not all those wrecks are the fault of the Corvette driver - some were caused by another vehicle and some happened at a race track where things like that do sometimes happen. But enough of them were as you say idiot drivers with too much car for them to handle.

After 1999, IIRC, Corvette's have a sport mode that turns off traction control but leave on stability control (AH). It appeared as though a lot of those people turned it off to do dounuts/burnouts and then failed. I'd bet 50% of those are from someone freaking out, dropping throttle, causing engine drag to exacerbate the situation.

Your 03, like all 2001 - 2004 C5's, has both TC and AH. That button on the center console allows you to turn off either TC or AH or both by the proper steps of pressing the button.
See your owners manual for the specifics of turning these features OFF. Off only applies to the current ignition cycle and you will have both turned ON by default the next time the engine is started.
I didn't let the possibility of a dumb driver incident like shown in the video stop me from adding a maggie to my 04 and I'm well into my 70's. If I had it to do over again the only change I would have made is adding the maggie sooner than I did............

push the button once and both traction control and active handling are turned off. Hold the button down for five seconds and you are in competion mode, witch turns traction control off but leaves active handling on. At least that is the way I understand it.

Stability-track is your friend Corvette fails
Many of my friends and acquaintances asked me why I chose a C5 Z06 over a C6 Z06 and one of the reasons was because of the power difference. Who needs 500+ horsepower on the street. Plus, I have always liked the C5 FRC design. If you can't control and handle the power you don't need it. Save the wave!

After watching the GM promotional video, I'm glad my car doesn't have active handling.
Here's the way I see it:
Lets say the back end steps out a bit to the left. I counter steer to the left to catch it. Then about the time I have caught it and stopped the lateral movement, the active handling wakes up, applies the left front brake and causes an over correction.
It looks to me like that's what is happening in some of these fails.
