Default Storage and Battery

Every year, I store the vette in the garage over the winter, put a battery tender on it, cover it up, etc.

Last week, I went to start the Corvette to move it into storage position in the garage, but it would not start. Voltage warning and battery dead. I thought no big deal because I will be trickle-charging it anyway in storage and would just deal with it in the spring.

Before I put the trickle-charger on, there was a faint high-pitch whining or whistling sound coming from around the battery (computer module?) area. I went to check the mileage first by turning on the light switch to view the odometer, and the whining stopped.

I put the trickle-charger on and the whining went away but then returned that evening.

Eventually, the faint whining/whistling went away again for a few days until I noticed again today.

Not sure what this whining sound is even without the trickle charger on.

Should I fully charge the battery first?

Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

C5 z06 corvettes were known to whistle from the intake--no harm--i would guess your hearing that with hood open--

Not sure I understand. Car is off. Right now sound seems to be coming from middle-passenger side of engine compartment. Initially could hear it with the hood closed also. Now its pretty faint.

Wondering if I should fully charge the battery now?

A trickle charger only puts out 1.25-1.5 amps and you need at least 8-12 A to charge up a dead battery, if it can be revived.

My 01 does the same thing when the battery is not charged, I think a relay is freaking out because it still has not come to the proper voltage.

Nothing has blown up yet.
