Incandescents in Chinese lamps are bad!
Like many C5's my front turn signal housings were cracked and allowing water onto the bulbs. So I bought the $60 Chinese made ones from eBay (bottom stock pic). I used new incandescent bulbs. After a couple of days I started smelling hot plastic, and having already owned a Vette that caught on fire this had my especially worried. Didn't figure it out until I went through a car wash and got hyper flash from yet another broken bulb.
Needless to say I've changed lens (again) and switched to LEDs for the reduced heat.

Bummer. Well, thanks for sharing - hopefully your post will help someone else avoid the same problem.

Man, those light housings must have been paper thin. When I replaced mine I went with OEM and they are pretty good. I don't blame you for going with LEDs though - much less heat to deal with.
