Simply put, headers will get you to your current goal, and be a good setup for additional mods later. Sometimes small steps can be important steps, especially if you think a stock c5 coupe is fast, throwing a blower on it will likely get you killed if you aren't prepared.

With that said, anyone want to sell me a supercharger?

I didn't see a budget of yours, that is the bottom line. HP cost a lot of money how fast do you want to go? Like they said you need to get air in and air out= LTH. No matter what you do.

IMO, If your budget is decent, then sell your car and put that money towards getting a Z06.

67 years old here......I agree with this message. 40hp is not a big bump so don't expect a big change. You could also change rear gears....373 or 390.....these will change the whole driving experience and they work well in the street....373's worked best for me....P.S. I have H/C/H and use Z06 titanium cat backs on my '99 coupe. Not very loud at idle but Absolutely no drone even with mods....

Welcome to the party.

OP it sounds like a set of long tubes ($900 XS Power) and a tune are all you need.

I'm in the same boat where I bought a FRC and want 01' Z06 power (385hp). So for now I am adding:
-Z06 Airbox Lid
-K&N Drop in
-Ported TB
-Diablo Handheld tuner.

I'd imagine this will give me a 10-12hp bump and then later I will just add the long tubes and that will put me at 385hp or more.

Where are you located? As long as it isn't California, I'd say do long tube headers, a vararam cold air intake and a tune to reach your goal.

I was in the same situation a few years ago with my 99 FRC. My journey "finally" took me to:
ECS Supercharger
Single nozzle Alky System
Upgrade fuel injection
Fuel Boost pump
AR Headers
Upgraded valve springs
B&B Bullets Cat Back
= last dyno 552 rwhp

your journey "addiction" is just beginning

6 speed; good stuff.
Get some headers and X, aftermarket cats, some used Ti's and an intake. Get a mail order tune for it all. Drive it for a while.
If you want more, get a cam and maybe some 243/LS6 heads down the road. Then you're basically the same as Z power or more depending on what you do.
Ignore the crazy FI guys... unless you get crazy.

Headers, intake, exhaust and a tune will get you where you want, and be a good base for later mods if you get bored down the road.

Default Winter Project

I'm getting ready for the long winter nap. Collecting parts. Hoping to get 40-50 HP. Magnuson SC, 4inch cowl hood, Blower cam, cnc PRC heads, LG Pro headers, Borla straight back exhaust, Flared rear fenders with mini tubs, and 15inch wide 20 tires on back.

Find yourself a FRC already done. I've found over the years it's cheaper and quicker to let someone else do the mods. I found this one in Indiana that I plan to use at the MotorSport Park in Bowling Green. Taking a driving school has been on my list of things to do. It came with a Votech supercharger, bilstien coil overs, new brakes, tires, rims, etc.
