Just got back into a C5 Corvette
Howdy folks,
My name is Mike, and I just purchased my 2nd C5 Corvette today. It is 1999 convertible, manual, red metallic paint, oak interior, 24k miles on it.
I had previously owned a 1997 automatic coupe; from 2009 until 2014. Back then, I had an opportunity to purchase a 1987 Lotus Esprit, so I sold the Corvette to do so. The Esprit was a childhood dream car for me, as I grew up around them.
But after two years of Esprit ownership, I decided that I prefer my adulthood dream over the childhood one - Corvette ownership.
So after looking around a little bit, I found my new to me 1999 at a dealership today. Drove wonderfully and is in great shape, so I went for it. I am picking it up on Wednesday.
Here are a pair of pictures of it, and I am also including a picture of my other vehicular toy.

I drove a friends newer model turbo Esprit a couple of weeks ago. Outperforms the C5 in power and cornering- feels like a slot car! When I got back into my C5, I felt like I was sitting in an old mans Buick! Of course the Esprit has no trunk, is hard on the ears with the wastegate behind your head and would be a chore on long and every day drives but what a blast to drive!
Welcome back to the C5 world - it's better here!

The Esprit actually has quite a bit of trunk, behind the engine and over the trunk. I'm guessing your friend's car was a V8, right?
And yes, I agree - it is much better here. I definitely see myself as being an always Corvette owner.
Thanks for the welcome back
