Honestly, only you know how responsible you'd be. Be honest with yourself.
I bought my vette at 25 and it was the 3rd car I've ever owned.
83 Toyota Supra at 16/17
91 Acura Legend Coupe after High School Graduation
02 Vette
The only 3 cars I've ever owned. And my vette is my only car.
Reliability is not an issue with a well taken care of car.

Go for it, but invest in an Evolution driving school. They are great to teach you to handle a car like that. My first car was a '66 Chevelle SS 396...I'm lucky to be alive today...just sayin...
BTW...wish I still had it now that they are worth a fortune, red vert. Traded it for a truck to haul my first horse trailer.

I understand you are frustrated. But as others have stated, none of these issues are major and usually occur on every C5, with the exception of the hood, shifter, and excessive battery drain.
You should read the stickies on this site to see what you can expect. I wish I could tell you that you can expect trouble free electronics but I assure you, the electronics are the weak link on the C5. You can expect air actuators, HVAC lights, etc. to go out. It is not a question of "IF" but "WHEN".
The excessive battery drain means you have a constant drain on the battery somewhere. It could be as simple as the hood or hatch not being securely fastened to having something to do with your window regulator(s).
Shifters do not usually break unless you engage in constant aggressive short shifts. I have owned two C5s, a 2000 coupe and my current 03 Z06, so I do have some experience with these cars.

I have been very, very lucky with my 01 Z06. I had one electrical glitch where the drivers side window stopped working. Met a great tech in Opelika, AL at the recommendation of bikeriderga and he fixed me right up. The only other issue I've had is the headlight actuators make noise (gears are stripped). I have bought two new ones but not installed them yet.
