How many people here actually drive their car?
Just popped into my mind after looking at the "hiigh, high mileage" thread expecting to see a question about a 300k mile car but its only at 150k.
How many of you guys actually drive your car like a car, not a car show driver or garage ornament?
When I was selling my last one I remember a guy called to ask how many miles was on it, I told him 60k and he was like "wooooo, thats way too many miles for me!" (What I heard was: Sweet jesus, you drove it 5000 miles a year, you crazy bastard!)
Sometimes the mentality of Corvette owners just confuses me. Spend $50k plus on a car new, so you can not drive it and sell if for $20k 15 years later instead of actually driving it and only getting $15k. Or buying a 15 year old car for $20k and not driving it so you can get close to $20k when you sell. Those just seem like terrible investment strategies... I dont know, maybe its just me
I do appreciate you guys who actually drive your car, it makes it so guys like me can actually afford it!

I try to keep mine clean as much as possible, but I do drive. I've got 60,000 miles on mine. On average I do a little under 4,000 miles per year after owning it for 8 years. BUT I am an onsite property manager, so I have to find excuses to leave. LOL

I bought my 99 coupe in May of 2014, one owner car with 50,000 mi. I traded in a 07 Monte SS with 30,000 which I bought new. I said I will never do that again, I have now 67,000 on the vette in 2 summers. I do have a DD and I will NOT drive the vette in the winter. I do not use the vette for getting groceries and such. (no reason to)

Some people like to keep their cars low mileage/pristine condition/garage queens while others drive the wheels off. There really doesn't have to be a good or bad side to such variances - whatever makes the owner happy is all that matters.

I will never complain about people who take extreme care of their car, I just wish they would not treat people who are not as dedicated as some kind of moron, after all how someone treats their own car should not be of such big concern as to call people names or insult them as if the cars are living things being abused
That being said it is a nice used car market to shop in because of the dedication.
I've supercharged mine, blown up the original motor, replaced that and then trashed the trans. So you can surmise what kind of owner I may be.
Oh and I do drive mine to the grocery store, I just have to make sure the bags are all tucked behind the cargo net or the eggs may not make it home in one piece

This car is new to me, with 98k on it. I drive it every day. Round trip to work is either 60 or 75 miles, depending upon which way I come home. I would rather put 15 miles on it in sixth gear on a toll road than sitting in stop and go traffic, burning up the clutch. It just depends on traffic and what time I leave work...
I had a ten second 2000 Z28 that I bought new. When hurricane Ike destroyed it in 2008, it had 18k on it. I will forever regret not driving it more. It was a tragic waste.

Got my Z late '09 w/ 30k in Vegas and immediately drove it to ND, then Syracuse onward to SC a few months later. Have taken it to St Louis, Disney World, up and down NC/SC coast and GA can't count how many times.
Just did maintenance a few months back as she rolled over 100k. She's my DD and I have enjoyed every mile since I got her.

Only had mine (2004 Le Mans Commemorative coupe) since September of last year, but have put right at 2000 miles on it. Considering my "commute" is less than 3/4 mile, I guess I'm driving it quite a bit.

Just turned 50k miles on my 99. I might have put 1500 miles a year on it in the last 7 years. With kids, I just don't get to drive it as often as I would like.

I purchased my '04 in 2012 with only 18,000 miles. Today it has 24,000. That doesn't mean I don't drive it, or the previous owner for that matter. We both have/had very short commutes and drove it daily...even in the rain (for me at least). It also did multiple drives from Chicago to Northern MI. We both kept it very clean and enjoy/enjoyed it. I do store it in the winter, but not for any investment purposes, it just isn't a good idea to drive a lowered rwd car with summer performance tires in the snow.
I guess my point is low mileage in and of itself should not indicate that a vehicle is not enjoyed and relegated to garage queen status. I just don't have many reasons to drive far from home.

I daily drove it for about 3 years. But I want to actually keep this car for a looooong time. So driving it all the time becomes kind of a Hassle.
Parking away from the front of the store gets old. Having to slow down in rain or risk losing control gets old. Replacing tire$ gets old. Fixing the things you break gets old (especially if you do your own work). Being careful not to rip the seats in the regular spots gets old. Having to take alternate routes because of driving a car so low...gets old and on and on.
My car has 88k on it right now and once I finish this motor it probably still wont go up that much. Its fun to take out and have fun with it then put it back up. But for a Daily Id rather have something I dont have to worry about as much. Something that doesnt attract as much attention.
On top of that. I let someone else take that $30k hit. So Im not really worried about depreciation. These cars hold value pretty well.

Yeah my work is 5 miles one way. So I can daily drive it nearly year round and it still won't accumulate much. Weekends it gets a bit of a break too as I two young boys involved in sports. So if we attend events as a family, we need to take our CUV instead. Guess an advantage to having only two people in the house of driving age, and 3 cars. I can drive it as often as I like, but have options if needed.

All the rest of that stuff is common with lowered/modified cars, its just a part of that life

Bought my '04Z in 2011 with 17K on it, has about 50K now so yeah, I drive it. Since moving up here I try not to during the winter (have a 95 M3 with 234K for that) but come spring it'll be out again...

If it weren't for all this dang snow I'd be driving my Z every day to and from work like the rest of the year.
