If you live in the north, you get maybe 7 months a year to drive it. Which means you have 2 cars. If you have 2 cars why drive the car you want nice when its pointless and more prone to get hit and means you will have to spend another hour or 2 cleaning it every week vs washing it every other week but only driving it 7 or 8 days instead of 10 or 11 in a 2 week period. I won't park it anyplace that hasn't been scouted, as I don't want it getting messed up by *******s. So my vette gets maybe 4k a year on it, my other car gets 6-6500. So 13 year old car with 40k is pretty reasonable imo as it wasn't driven at that rate till i got it.

Mind you if i lived down south i would have 1 car, and it would have miles and dings and scratches and not care.

How many of you guys actually drive your car like a car, not a car show driver or garage ornament?

I bought my 2002 C5 triple black convertible two months ago with 63,000 miles. The PO averaged 5000 miles a year. It's in fabulous shape, mechanically and cosmetically but it will never be rare or a show piece. I bought it to drive and in the two months I've owned it I put 1500 miles on it and it's still winter. We plan a Route 66 summer just knocking around the US, staying at Best Western Hotels and cruising wherever a whim takes us.

I have wanted a Corvette since I was about 12 and saw my brother in law's 58.
I bought my 99 in 2006 with 22k on the speedo.
It is my first Vette and I drive it every day unless:
Snow or ice
Have to haul something big
Traveling somewhere that will require higher ground clearance.
So now in 2016 she is about to roll over to 100,000 miles. Driven across country several times. Live in Oregon so she has seen lots of rain! On my fourth set of tires ;^)
I will drive her until something breaks that I can't repair........I do worry about the ABS module finally failing ;^(

Mine is listed with the insurance company as a pleasure vehicle and that is what it is, I drive my truck for everything else. Don't care how many miles, dirt, dings, loaded, goes in or on the truck. have had my vette two summers,7000,the first and 8000,last //I don't care about the miles, I do care about abuse, that is for my truck !!!! (which still looks and drives like new)

When I was selling my last one I remember a guy called to ask how many miles was on it, I told him 60k and he was like "wooooo, thats way too many miles for me!" (What I heard was: Sweet jesus, you drove it 5000 miles a year, you crazy bastard!)
Sometimes the mentality of Corvette owners just confuses me. Spend $50k plus on a car new, so you can not drive it and sell if for $20k 15 years later instead of actually driving it and only getting $15k. Or buying a 15 year old car for $20k and not driving it so you can get close to $20k when you sell. Those just seem like terrible investment strategies... I dont know, maybe its just me

I do appreciate you guys who actually drive your car, it makes it so guys like me can actually afford it!
I bought my 2000 FRC in 2002 with 18k on it, it now has 140k and I try to drive it at least 2 - 3 times a week, it was a daily driver until I had 90k on it then I went to the 2 - 3 times a week. Drive it like I stole it!!!

I drive mine every chance I get. I drive it for pleasure... I don't drive it for transportation, so I am selective about the days I drive it. I usually take it to my gun club every week. I will take it out on errands, and pleasure trips. I know from personal experience that it won't melt if I take it out in the rain.

Near Walmart in Dover. As you come off of Mt. Pleasant ave. (from rt. 15) to turn left into the access road to Walmart. It's on the opposite side of the road.

I bought my 99 in 2005 with 11k on it. It has a little over 30k now in 2016. Yes I need to drive it more. I'm always picking between the boat and the car on the weekends, hard choices.
