[Z06] Shifter recommendation.

I've been using an MGW shifter with their "Race" **** for about 5 years. I think it's fantastic. Mine uses an upgraded C6 shifter box where the new ones come as a whole unit with an MGW manufactured shift box. The throws are crisp and short. The shift effort is reasonable. A huge improvement over the sloppy 18 wheeler shifter from GM.

Mgw feels great... If you're looking for a nice smooth, yet firm shifter go with that. It's a 100 times better than stock
If you want the shortest throw possible, go Hinson... I helped a friend install his, and it made my mgw feel like stock again with how long the throws are. The Hinson is insanely short, very stiff at first but does break in (like all shifters) if it's a daily driver I'd go mgw because of how nice it feels.. Weekend/race car? Go Hinson and have he shortest quickest shifts possible

how is MGW for regular driving or maybe autocross? Seems it is focused more on those hitting drag strip and dont want to have to work that hard when driving in traffic...hahaha

The Hinson would be the shifter for the drag strip. Very short throws, much more effort than stock. The MGW is perfect for daily driving/autocross. Shorter throws than stock, positive engagement in every gear. IMO it's how the C5 should have shifted from factory.

When I got my car it had a hurst shifter. I liked it. But I kept hearing about the MGW with billet lower box. Its very nice. Didnt like how the bottom of the lower box is left open to dust and dirt though. Very solid shifter. Alot longer throws than the hurst. Easier to find reverse in the mgw. To me the MGW feels like a more solid Stock shifter.I honestly liked the Hurst better than the MGW. While the MGW is nice...it didnt live up to the hype thats going around for me. So I sold it and have a Hinson on order.
