Default FRC roof drip rails

Here are pics of my drip rails, I'm getting ready to replace the window weatherstripping on both sides of my 02 Z06 and not sure if these are the dreaded cracked ones I read so much about or if these are ok.

Your drip rails are in fact defective as the crack depicted is the "crack" you've been reading about. I have a '02 C5Z as well and replaced mine last year. GM redesigned the drip rails and the part number changed to the upgraded ones. As far as I know they are still available although, not cheap. If you're replacing the weatherstrips, now would be a good time to take care of the drip rails....pretty easy job, just take your time. Check with your dealer when buying the rails as you will want to get the adhesive seals that go with them to avoid future interior leaks. Hope this helps!

I have a small crack like you on my '02 Z06. The piece is approx. $180 from what I understand and with shipping is around $200.

Takes around 3 to 4 hours labor to replace.

Mine is only cosmetic and does not leak water into the car, so I've not replaced it.

Mine didn't leak either till I had my roof redone last fall, roof had an imperfection line running almost the whole width about 6in from rear glass. My paint guy said it looked like a problem with the epoxy/resin that was used at factory when roof panel made. Any way he did an excellent job with the repair and paint but when I got the car back, both side windows leaked near windshield and the weatherstripping on drivers side had about a 2 in tear in it right in the middle of the side glass. I also have wind noise now on passenger side that wasn't there before. So my plan is to install new weatherstripping and drip rails.

My passenger side looks like that, just a little further back. Didn't leak, now

I am ordering all the parts today to get this done. HOPEFULLY someone can post pics of the job in process to make me feel better

Thanks
Ed

Oh...FYI...I used 3M Strip Caulk Part # 051135-08578 (Black) for installation of my drip rails as the dealer couldn't find or didn't know how to find the factory adhesive strips. Also, when I pulled out the paperwork this morning I discovered that I replaced my rails in October,2013....wow how time flies!!!! And here I was thinking I did this last year. On the flip side it clearly shows the 3M Strip Caulk I used has at least done the job for 3 years so no worries. I hope this helps! The success other will have depends on the details such as making sure everything is cleaned thoroughly before attempting to reinstall the new rails. Also, my car was not in need of weather stripping so I took my time and carefully removed them and reinstalled them with the same strip caulk in the corners. I have had no leak, drips or any issues at all and I am very picky when it comes to my car.

Bought my very low mileage '04 last spring. It had lived a sheltered life in Texas and was near perfect. I drove it a lot last year and stored it a few months in my unheated garage in Kansas this past winter. When I pulled the cover off recently I found cracked driprails on both sides. Don't seem to have any leaks yet.

I'd like to fix these, but I'm concerned it will just happen again? Since it's an '04 I would assume it has the revised parts. Does anyone have information as to what the cause is?

Old thread I know but wondering first if these Z06 C5 parts are still available and have they changed the part numbers again? I looked on Cultrag and they did not show up on part numbers 10331562 and 10331563.

Just noticed my drivers side is cracked in two places, the passenger side is alright for not.

Any help appreciated.

Just looked on Cultrag, neither of those part number fit a FRC per their website. I wish they did, as mine are both cracked.

I think the GM Online catalog is wrong. Many people here have verified the part number, but none of the sites using the GM catalog say they fit a FRC. I realize it is a $400 gamble, but I am considering it. Or maybe $0.15 worth of black silicone sealer. Mine don't leak, but the passenger side has some wind noise.

Then they are wrong. That is the GM part number that was ordered for my Z06 from the dealership.

Thanks for the input guys. Interesting that on many on line sites they will allow you to return the part if it is not correct. However is the site says the part is not for your car you are on your own, which would be the case with these mouldings. I think I will talk to my local dealer. Disappointed that the part broke but I guess it is a 16 year old car and **** happens.
