C6 Shifter in C5 help
Hey guys,
My mechanic friend helped me install a C6 Z06 shifter in my 2003 C5 Z06. It seems like the shifter is not "springing" back to neutral if you move it to the left or the right. I am attaching a video.

1 - This is not normal right?
2 - What could be the cause of this?
Thanks for any help!

It is a black plastic bushing that snaps onto the bottom of the shift rod. If you bought a C6 Z06 shifter assembly with base, it would have been on already, and not visible.

I would uninstall it, mount it in a vise and move it around. It should be moving alot more easily than that. Maybe there is a problem with your shifter assembly. I put a C6 shifter in my C5 and it works real nice. So much better than the C5 shifter and the Hurst shifter I've also used.

I also had this problem when I installed mine (brand new) and I solved it pretty easily.
Most likely, the cause of your problem is the same as was mine, as it is very easily overlooked even with instructions.
It's pretty much the alignment that is off.
Look at the diagram in Post #3.
Parts 7, 8, and 9.
You have to make sure that the hole where those parts join is perfectly centered. And by perfect, I mean dead center, even a couple of millimeters can throw it off.
After you do this, if you notice a difference but it's still not "perfect", then re-do it. It may take a few tries. Aim a flashlight down the hole if you need to.
