Default Vararam C5 Power Duct

I just installed the Vararam C5 Power Duct to my Vararam intake. When I bought the car it still had the stock one in place. Aside from the smooth couplers I don't see much difference ? In fact the smooth coupler will rip after removing it several times because it must bend out of the way rather than squeeze together like the stock one. Any opinions would be appreciated.

Mass air flow sensor should be relocated directly too back of power duct as per installation instructions.

Thanks for the tip. I simply duplicated the stock set up.

Notice the airflow arrow. It wouldn't marry up to the Vararam without the coupler. The instructions pictures show otherwise. Is this because the LS1 throttle body is smaller ?

I have been told some will not fit in the air duct without the coupler.

Good luck ripping those couplers, they will probably outlast your LS6.

You will most likely get a check engine light when you move the MAF from the factory position.
I just went through this. You can have it tuned to work like I did, but why bother, it added ZERO power to the rear wheels when dyno tuned.

Affirmative, the silicone hoses are very durable and even under severe conditions last a lifetime.

I made the comment based on my experience with a smooth coupler from Corvette Central for my C4. I see the attitude here is my LS6 will fail before these couplers rip or tear. Well isn't that special. I am especially happy to hear that I wasted $110 on this Vararam power duct. I haven't gotten a check engine light from moving my throttle body. At least that part is a plus. The aftermarket red looks cool but worth $110 ? No way man. Live and learn.

I don't know that it matters either way, but the install video from Vararam Industries shows it how he has it in the first pic, which I think is a cleaner install as well.

Skip to about 14 mins in for this specific part.

Wow Just bought a new air duct from vararam for my 2002 LS1. My instructions showed it installed in the back of the air duct. I have just done my install. No light sofar. Mine did fit into the back of the air duct with out having to use a cuppler but was not an easy fit.

Drove the car about 100 miles yesterday and no problems.

I started out putting mine in the factory location and the power duct outlet (engine side) warped without the MAF there. Massive air leak after a long cruise that I couldn't find until I removed the power duct and checked it. Apparently the lip on that end is not strong enough to hold its shape. I had to put the factory piece back on. At least I have no CEL now.

Aside from the under-hood bling or some competition factor that means nothing to 99% of us, I can find no value in it. It's been a headache for me. I also wasted an email trying to contact Vararam customer service about it.

I put this on my car last year.... First, you are not going to notice much difference on a dyno because the CAI requires air to be forced into it..ramjet. It makes the difference in actual driving situations. Secondly, I got lean readings after installation which it was not but the air is so turbulent it cant tell proper readings...so put a Halltech screen in front of the MAF...did not work so a light tune was done to get my air-fuel mix right. All is good now...will get it tuned better when I put on the headers later this year...

My car was choking on the stock duct with heads/cam. I added this power duct, and a ported stock TB and it picked up a peak of 10whp, and made like 15whp/ft lbs through the curve.

I would have thought the stock maf would have ran out of room before the air duct. What power levels also are you running a different maf or have it turned off via sd only tune?
