So then what's the deal - BSM was an option in 2000?

I keep hearing that "more affordable" thing, but then they priced it a whole whopping 1% cheaper than the coupe.
You'd have to be right on the hairy edge of not being able to afford the car at all for that to make a difference.

I don't think I have ever seen one. Maybe I have but didn't realize it. I'll be paying closer attention from now on though. Your FRC is beautiful.

Your eyes see what they expect to see: you've probably seen quite a few of them and thought "Z06".
About 1 in 5 of the C5 "hardtops" are (non-Z06) FRCs.

It's well documented that the FRC was the most torsionally rigid chassis offered in the C5 lineup...you're incorrect.

Adhesives are used on racecars...bonding is more rigid than spot welding or riveting in many cases. You're tying the windshield frame to the rear uprights...of course it's going to increase rigidity.

That goal was in pre-production days. Was to be a basic entry-level car. As time went on and with C5 sales expanding from 9752 in 97 to the tune of 31K+ in 98, the FRC was still introduced with a price just below the coupe. With Z06 introduction, the Z06 version FRC became well priced above the coupe to the tune of 7K+. And then Z06 was the first vette ever, by 02, to bump a 50K sticker starting out.

Supply and demand. Buyers wanted it all in a Z06 cause that's what sold. Z06's in the end had very few options. One such option was BSM.
Both my 03's had it. Looks cleaner without IMOP. Blk w/BSM looks OK so OP is safe on that

Early FRC looks very clean w/o the BSM and rear brake air intake, but both serve a purpose. I also like the "basic" seat in the FRC over the upgraded but standard "sport" seats in the Z06.

And look where Z06 is now. Convertible, A8, removable roof options. The early FRC was the trail blazer. And of course the C5-R racing program which started in 1999.

Talking about C5 and rarity, at this stage in the C5's life...is laughable...and I do mean laughable.

I hope you enjoy your FRC as much as I have mine. 15 years and it's still fun to drive.

Nice FRC don2000. They may not be extra valuable, but are kind of rare and look really good!

yours are probably original.97-99 had wagon wheels.in 2000 they went to the thin 5 spoke like you have.that's why they are referred to as y2k wheels.

The basic FRC is like a Red Headed Stepchild to the Corvette. Not very desirable and definitely not wanted by the general Corvette community. GM realized what a marketing mistake that was and morphed it into the much more desirable Z06 -- leaving the orphaned FRC to languish. Who knows if it will eventually become a collectable due to it rarity -- it certainly won't be due to it desirability -- its almost like downgrading to a Camero.

16 years here and still a blast! 99 FRC Torch Red, 26K miles, looks new! Lingenfelter 500 HP tune, 2000 wheels with "wagons" in the basement! Rare, I think so!

Your opinion might hold a hint of value if you at least knew how to spell "Camaro"
