Shifter *****?
My 02 Z has a new factory shifter and ****, but it's like holding a baseball.. What shifter ***** are a direct replacement? Will a Hurst shift **** from a WS6 Trans Am work?

In theory any **** with 9/16-18 threads will fit.
Getting rid of the huge ghastly factory **** was top of my list when I got my Z. I made my own out of steel, looks OK, but not nice on hot days! Takes 1/3 of my drive home to be cool enough to be comfortable.
I also find the factory piece was too high for me, and it seems all the aftermarket ones only thread in a short distance (resulting in a yet higher ****).
I'm gonna cut my shaft down about 3/4 to 1", then make another **** with internal threads getting close to the top effectively lowering it a fair bit from stock.
There are a few people that cut theirs down.

I have a Hurst ball i'll sell ya.... A lot of the guys use the C6Z shifter/**** in their C5... NO, the factory Hurst w the "H" like your WS6 had will not work.. My 02 35th LE SS has the Hurst (OEM) shift ****. Love it.

Getting rid of the truck-like shift **** that Chevy supplied was a big improvement - the shorter shift throws help a lot too.

I am one of those who cut the shaft down, in my case just about at the bottom of the slot for the locking key, then threaded it down to the top of the insulator bushing. Running a black Hurst cue ball - I do like it, but I am looking for something a bit smaller and a bit less retro looking.

Red = stock gargantuan ****, green where a standard threaded depth **** would be, white is where I'll be at.

I think I'm one of the few people who actually likes the factory ****. When I originally put my B&M shifter on I went with a c6z shift **** in suede but didn't like how it felt. It looked great, much better than stock, but it felt less comfortable.

I agree. I keep my Polished aluminum **** on the car because it looks WAAAAY better then stock. But when I go to the track or anything I put the stock **** back on. It just feels better with a short shifter in the car.

Eventually I would like to have a **** that looks good and feels good. I'm tempted to try one of the Delrin *****, but I like leather wrapped so much. One of my favorite shift ***** of all time is the SVT focus leather wrapped ****. I have an extra one, just needs the right thread pattern and a new shift pattern.

The bottom ID of the Delrin will be machined out large enough to allow for the gaiter and stock shifter boot to fit up inside (the red lines).

If your shifter feels precise and tight, it's not the factory shifter. You might like how it feels, but it doesn't feel precise and tight.
