Default Corbeau Evolution X Seat

So I have been looking around for a race seat for awhile now and as we all know there is only so many out there for C5s. Especially for bug guys, i work out so my shoulders and my body overall is not small lol...I got tired of fighting the stock seat and frankly it started to become embarrasing because everytime I took corners at high speed, my whole body shifted and it looked like i was in a sedan not a track capable car. My seats are also in really good shape with 40k miles on them, so its not the seats fault, its the design.
So fast forward, after sitting on a few race seats especially the A4 i felt like they are too bulky and the ones i set on felt cheap and not very modern. I wanted something more modern looking and affordable so thats when i found the Corbeau Evolutiom X. These seats are a new design and designed specifically for C5 and C6. A buddy of mine had a brand new one that he never installed in his vette so i went to check it out and this thing looked sharp. Yes its not leather but it looks cool, has that modern look to it with the thin back and pefect reclined position, its comfy and holds my boddy nice and tight ( i am 6'1" 230lbs)...so in other words its the perfect seat for a big guy and has the functionality I was looking for.

So got the seat

I was excited to install it but the bracket didnt have the seat belt buckle mount in it, someone had cutted it. I am not sure why. But had to order a new one from carbeau, just the bracket not the rail part.

Old

New

Old vs new

The difference between the brackets is the new brackets now have two holes, one for the C6 (left) and C5 (right).

Bolted the bracket to the rail/sear

Seat belt buckle in 18mm nut

Ready to be dropped in

Due to the bracket design a socket and wrench dont fit in there

Another look at it

Wretchet style works perfect btw its a 15mm nut

So this was some of the issue the guys were having with these seats and corbeau bracket. Even though its designed for this car, they never actually did r&d in it, they used a C6 for it. C6 doesnt have the C5 style retractable seat belt. But with the bracket bolts being moved over an 1" now the seat clears perfect

Another colse view

Seat all the way forward

Final product, sorry lighting sucks in the garage

One more

Thanks for details, I've been considering these seats for some time, I plan to sale my sport seats and the electric bases to offset the cost, I rarely use any of the features of the sport seats to be honest, they really look great in your car, please post some more pics out in the sun when you have time and also how they are working for you day to day.

Nice job by the way

They look awesome! Thanks for posting. Plenty comfortable? My husband is 6'4" with broad shoulders also.

I'm planning on switching to these from my A4s later this year. Love the A4s also, but I'm going for red stitching and having Corbeau add the seat heat.

Well been driving around for 2 hrs now and all I can say is WOW..huge difference, i smile everytime i take corners or ramps at high speed, it is amazing how much difference a seat can make in a car. Now i can push the car harder in corners and stay planted. The seat looks amazing (i will take some more pics in the light later today) and my back is not tired or sweaty (currently 82F outside). Even though its a fixed seat Corbeau did an amazing job on the reclining part of the seat, you dont stand straight up like in some other racing seats that have fixed back. So far I am happy with it, I yet have to find a negative thing about it since i been driving it.

@chassed, yes this seat was for sale, the guy selling it was my buddy so i called him and told him i wanted it lol...but honestly even at the carbeau price its def worth it. I am considering to get a passenger side one now.

Since I still need to deal with 2 rocking seats, that are just okay, I am tempted. What is the weight saving per seat over the stock power seat? How many horses would the lighter seats calculate to? And could the overall seat angle be changed with a couple washers?

Overall weight with bracket is 25lbs.. you can def change the angle of the seat with washers without a problem. I have zero rocking of the seat and no movement at all even though i have the single lock rail version. For hardcore racing carbeau recommends dual lock rail..

Those look great! Changing the seats out is one of the best mods for the vette, you enjoy it every-time you drive.

So it's been a couple of months; how are you liking it? Any signs of wear at all?

That seat does look very good. Did you ever get the passenger side seat?

Speaking of the passenger seat, just came in today and dropped it in ...original goal was to just do the driver side but then the more i looked at it the more i iwanted to have both seats. It also looks better with the matching set. This is what i did in the 91 deg heat
