C5 rear spoiler - ZR1 style mounting question
Anyone here have the ZR1 style rear spoiler mounted on their C5? Did you do the recommended drill and mount or use 3M fastening tape to mount yours in place? If you used tape, any gaps or issues with the mounting holding up to the elements and use?

Mine is drilled - went to a body shop to have it done as it had to be painted anyway. When the spoiler showed up after shipment it needed hours of sanding just to make it look like it belonged with the car. I'm quite happy with the result and am confident that there will be no issues in the future with two sided tape.

I just installed my spoiler from C7 Carbon. I too drilled 4 holes. I thought I was going to use the tape but they said drilling was the best and safest way so.. what the heck.. I went for it and it came out great! I'm very happy! Its carbon fiber and I'm going to leave it that way. It was also a direct fit so I did it at home.

My Carbon Fiber ZR1 spoiler from C7 Carbon will be delivered next week. I plan to use 3M VHB 5952 double sided tape along with 3M adhesion promoter to help with bonding. This is the strongest double sided tape available, there is a 50 percent strength of bond in 20 minutes, 90 percent strength of bond in 24 hours, and 72 hours for 100 percent strength bond. When I spoke with a guy at C7 Carbon he did recommend drilling just to be safe when traveling at very high speeds. I don't track my car or travel at very high speeds, I do the speed limit with spirited driving every now and then so I think the tape will hold well for me. Good surface prep will be needed for maximum bonding strength when using tape. I'll post pics once I get mine installed, goodluck with your install as well.

I bought a fiberglass version from C7 Carbon. It's not listed on their website; it's custom ordered. I wanted it color-matched and painted to match my Torch Red exterior. I'll most likely go via the drill and mount method for security and peace of mind. Can't wait!

Do you happen to have any pics of it installed? I've been considering going with the body matched paint over the carbon fiber.

Zr1 spoiler on a C5
Already on. But on the tape side there are 2 drilled
Spots about 3' apart. Does anyone know if they are there to tell u where to drill. Was gone to use 2 plastic anchor bolts. And tape.and try to go through the C5 taillights. On my 2001 vert... I think
I bought it from Custom Corvettes.

I think the fit is key here, I bought a used Carravaggio spoiler, the fit was so good the left over sticky on the back crabbed the car when I test fit it before it was painted, I have 100% confidence in the tape if applied properly and the fit is good. If you have to apply pressure to keep it in place and flat to car I would probably use the recommended screws.
Good luck
