From the pics, that car looks really good. Priced well too for the mileage. I'd agree with having it checked by an independent shop and if OK, keep offering your price for the car. Hopefully they would take it and not get another offer on it in the meantime.

I think the maintenance records matter more than owners. My car had 6 owners before me with 86K on it and came with a stack of paperwork. After I bought the car I contacted all the owners except the first. They gave me great info on the history, maintenance, and mods of the car, even the shops where work was done so I could make my records complete. Made me feel more secure about the car I bought.
I found the same case with my winter beater Infiniti. It had 172K on it when I bought it, but had all service records since new. Runs excellent and will be hitting 200K in a month or so.

My car had that many owners and all I need is a seal replaced @ 76000 miles. I bought my car a couple of months ago. Dealers are funny people. I've worked in the automotive industry for a while, both as a salesman. They will say no automatically to give you the preconceived notion that you will not get that price. It gives the dealer the advantage during negotiations.
Also, how long have they had the car? They are willing to give them away after 90 days as the dealer has to start paying interest on there loans. Yes, most dealerships have loans on each vehicle themselves. Another option is to talk to another salesman. You disliked him which makes it harder to talk to him. If you go again politely ask for a new salesman.

Something to think about. It went from Illinois to Michigan to Penn to NY. The car I bought stayed within 30 miles for all it's 4 buyers. The way it looks and the low mileage, it should have been easy to sell locally for dealers. Unless they wanted to get it out of town for some reason.

Safety Car
Eight years ago I purchased a ten-year-old C5. I was the fourth owner. It has been a trouble-free car.
If the car checks out, don't worry about how many previous owners it's had.

Carfax owner reports are hilarious. Mine said 8 owners, when it was really only 3. I bet this car only has 3 owners. Looks like 1 and 2 and 4,5,6 are the same owners. I think Carfax has trouble deciphering records in Michigan. I wouldn't let this deter you in the least.
