Default Parking on concrete yay or nay?

Just wondering what the overall opinion is on parking on bare concrete over long term. Is the "concrete pulls the moisture out of the rubber" an old wifes tale or true?

I never paid much mind to it and have not noticed any dry rot trouble with my garaged cars but I was just thinking about how much money in rubber alone I have on my garage floor right now and well

I don't know either but for the cost I park on plywood pieces just in-case. Cheap insurance.

I've heard that story about concrete too. I park our two DD vehicles on bare concrete and they do seem to lose air quicker than the C5 which I park on old carpet squares. Whether there is really any correlation there, your guess is as good as mine. It could be that I drive the DDs much more than the C5 too.

It's best to have a vapor barrier on bare concrete unless it's a climate controlled garage.

I read last fall to get the horse pads that they put in stalls for the winter. Can't tell if it works. But from Nov to mid April my tire pressure only dropped to 31.

I've stored my car on concrete floors for 14 years and never had a problem. The only thing I do when I store my car is over inflate the tires. If you put plastic down, be careful that it doesn't get on the exhaust. My car is very low and I learned the hard way.

If it really concerns you, buy 4 jack stands and elevate the entire car.

Oh NOOOOOO ! ! !

Been through this one on the C2 forum for years. First, I agree with you. The majority say we are incorrect and that the suspension parts will be "stressed". Like there is no "stress" when the full weight of the car is on the suspension components.

I bought 4 of these for $2.50 each to park on. They are 1.5 inch thick high density foam. Not only do they act as a moisture barrier they also help to prevent flatspots.

I park my cars in the garage on carpeted floor mats - not to preserve tire inflation, but instead to disburse the pressure of the cars' weight onto a broader footprint on my epoxy-painted floors. Doing this delays the epoxy paint from wearing/rubbing off.

I know a psychologist who specializes in OCD cases...should probably send her a link to this thread, just in case she needs the work.

I pull mine on to a tarp for winter storage because I noticed in the past the temp changes make the car and concrete sweat and the whole underside of car would be wet like I hosed it down, this was 20 years ago with different car but have done this ever since, figure it would eleimate the tire question as well

I'm inclined to agree, but if it makes someone feel better, go wall to wall indoor/outdoor carpet.
