C5 hood shocks

C5 hood shocks
Hi, does anyone know where I can get hood shocks for my C5 that have less resistance than my stock shocks? I have a carbon fiber hood and the stock shocks are just too stiff for this hood. Over time the hood will crack due to the resistance when trying to close the hood. I need some shocks with very little resistance or at least less resistance than the stock shocks. Thanks for any info, I really appreciate it!

Give the guys at www.liftsupportsdepot.com a call. They should be able to help, plus their prices are pretty good.

FWIW, I pull my Z16 hood down by the center rather than a corner.
Yes the shocks could be a tad bit lighter, so hopefully you'll post your outcome.

Try using a set of Suspa C16-06389 gas springs.
(Amazon link: )
They are the same size as the stock gas struts, but should be about half as strong. I couldn't find exact data on how much force the stock struts put out, but these Suspa ones are very weak, I've used them in personal projects holding up ~20lb lids and such. If anything they're too weak for your application.
Hopefully they work out for you.
