Unless you're after speedway white that is. 20k for my 60k mile speedway white z in absolute perfect condition. Prices are way high on both cars.

Prices are high on both cars but take into account it appears your stuck with buying from a dealer. If this is the case your gonna have to spend a minimum of an additional 2k for any car you buy. Working on vettes is not cheap so you need to factor this in on your decision. A set of tires can set you back a thousand dollars. You also need to decide if you want a coupe for a Z06 because your going to pay a premium for the Z06. As a example I paid 17k for a 2000 coupe with 34k miles. I purchased the car from a individual. I could never get that car from a dealership at that price. I would never spend over 20k for any vette with more than 50k miles but that is just me.

First thing I would get a carfax to see the history of the car.
2002 cars had valve springs problem (breakage) but I suppose since the car has over 100,000 miles the springs have been replaced. You can check valve springs color by opening oil filler cap. If you see yellow, it's not a good sign, most likely original valve springs.

I would sell your car private party and find a nice example of a Z06 from an individual seller. No reason to overpay for cars that need work.

But back to the headlights- the driver headlight goes up and down the same time as the passenger. But once it closes, it goes back up 1/2" I can manually dial is back down but flip them up and down again and it still goes back up 1/2".
Also, my current car is an '85 with a richmond 6 speed swap, AFPR, 52mm tbody, etc. My loan on it is at $7200. It's my daily at the moment.

Bought my 2001 auto vert with 40,000 miles in May. Car was one owner and spotless. Every option except F45 suspension, which I didn't want. It had new rotors/pads and 4 brand new tires. $20,000 out the door, which included tax, title, registration and all other dealer costs. I have driven it 6,000 miles since I bought it and have had to replace nothing.

I brought my 2004 Base with a belt squeaking problem. and no other problems with 56000 miles,Custom hood and wing for 18,000. private owner. He wanted 24,900.
look around and find something better. I looked at over a hundred vettes before I pulled the trigger on this one. Fixed the noise with new pulleys and tensioners and gatorback belts. All under 300. with my labor. pics in my galley. Good luck

Sometimes to make a deal quickly with a trade-in and financing help involved from a dealership it may be necessary to pay a bit more for the car you want.. Just my .02 If ya got all cash and are willing to do the search dance and travel to look at cars.. well that's another story. Far as a few repairs (?) sheesh, it's a 'vette ain't it.

I bought my '01 for 18.5k from a dealer they had it on the web as a Z with only 32k miles on it. I test drove it one day went home and though about it and applied for the loan for 18k. The vette was really clean in and out the, seemed to have a different exhaust and the rims were coated. Had my concerns about it being a Z because I did some research, went back with an RPO code and started checking off the list, I've never seen sales men act so amazed and in shock and awe. Turned out not to be a Z but did have the Z51 handling. Still loved the car and the color matched my Dmax. Dealer said 21500 out the door I said hell no its not a Z. they said 20, Again I said NO I am at 18, they said best I can do is 19.8, so I stood up and said I guess you guys paid to much for it but my offer is 18 have a nice day, they said hold on 5 min, i stood there and they came back with 18,554. So i gave them the check for 18 and swiped 554 out of my bank account and drove off the lot. I am very happy with my '01 it is from a reputable dealer, only had 32k (had purple led's so maybe owend by a girl), no mods except a Z06 muffler exhaust and the coated rims.
Since then I have come across some nice low mileage Z06's and non Z06's on the craigslist from private owners ranging from 14k-22k.
Do some homework, bounce the nadaguide and KBB. Bounce similar vettes on the dealer sites around town.
Run the RPO code list the sales man will know he is about to loose out on his cut from the sale and may try and play you but be ready to fire back.
I would be concerned with the valve covers missing, because that may mean there was some dummy under the hood, and with those miles what kind of abuse has it seen.
Its listed for 16.5K, and the key word is LISTED which means there is wiggle room for the dealer, make and offer and if you dont like it walk out, take a buddy that can help you walk out when the pressure is on. I had 3 sales men on me trying to make a deal.
Good luck.
