We just got back from a three week vacation and the wife's Vette fired right up. Battery is an Auto Zone about 1 year old.

I never got more than 2 or 3 weeks out of a good battery when my car was stored, until I started using a CTEK battery charger. I've never been happy that we need one of these devices for a Corvette that is a garage queen. But maybe it's GM's way of telling us that these cars are meant to be driven.

Corvettes were never meant to be daily drivers. GM should have realized that and engineered them so their batteries would not go dead in 2 weeks. It really is ridiculous.

I kind of agree with you about this, it is ridiculous that a car can't sit for weeks without getting a dead battery. Other vehicles have alarm systems and their batteries don't go dead so quickly.

2 weeks is not normal for a c5. I've left mine alone for almost 2 months before.

Then you are lucky, because most people only get 2 to 3 weeks before their battery dies.

My 2 year old Optima redtop just died Sat. Drove 120 miles 2 weeks ago. It is 105 degrees in the garage. It reads 5.26 VDC and will only get to 7.3, out of the car on a charger. I think each cell is 1.5 volts so have some dead ones. Optima said a car should only pull 100 MA shutoff with no dome lights, etc. I think with onstar, security system, etc, it drains a lot more. Will check when I put in the new battery. This battery is toast.

With the heavy drain these cars have; I switched to the yellow top.

How long ago? I'm thinking about doing this if my Red Top fails.

yep...two weeks....since new so its not always the "parasitic" drain we hear about...had mine since day 1 and it has NEVER been able to sit more than 2 weeks without being dead or damn near dead....my C6Z06 can go 3 plus weeks before it gets weak....

The dead battery after two weeks of it sitting is a rightful and just punishment from the Corvette Gods for such abusive treatment of your car!!!

Drive mine every single day!!!! And it gives me this....

Where does it say that? Owner's manual? Marketing brochure? I've NEVER heard of such BS.

I had the same battery drain problem. Turned out that the source of my battery drain was the hood light. After disconnecting, I haven't had any battery drain issues.
