Default Serpentine Belt Experience

Any insight to the life of the serpentine belt?

How often do you recommend changing?

Is there an aftermarket belt that is better than the original?

Thanks!

My belt was squeaking at 85k so I bought a new OEM. Squeak came back so I bought a Gatorback - squeak gone. That was two years ago. Others may have different opinions but this was my experience

Thanks - was preparing to do A/C belt and figured I'd do both at the same time. I'm at 87k and I'm guessing both are original equipment.

Gatorback belt's are my favorite on all cars. All that I'll use if I have the choice.

I used a Gates belt from CarQuest.

The squeaking was from the pulley.

I also replaced all of them.

(80k miles.)

Replace both belts and all the idler/tensioner pulleys. I guarantee the a/c idler is worn at that mileage. Also check your coolant pump for leaks at the weep hole when your in there.
As for belt selection Delco or Goodyear Gaterback are excellent. For the pulleys I won't go aftermarket. Stay with Delco.

Replaced mine at 115,000 all the pulley were worn. The ac pullies were actually plastic and there is a pot metal replacement available. Gatorback here as well. Rockauto for all the parts your car will ever need, well except for steering sensors and ebcm's.
