Default What do you experts think about the price of this zo6?

I would be trading in my c4.
Overall very nice condition. Rear tires probably going to need replaced fairly soon. Interior is very nice. Has a aftermarket intake and exhaust.
Is this a good price?
What would be a good purchase price?

Also, it has 6 previous owners, no Carfax report of accidents. Are multiple owners fairly norm with the zo6? Should I be concerned?
The wheels are chromed. Was this a option this year?

I am trying to read the zo6 sticky posts at the top. Any help would be appreciated.

First off, I'm no expert. The price seems fair to me so long as everything works as it should. I bought my first vette, an 04 Z06 with 34k miles, bone stock and in great condition about a month ago for 25.5K. I knew the excitement of getting this car would throw me off my game while looking it over, so I made a list of things to look for to keep me on track. Test drive it like you stole it! Turn the radio off so you can listen for any unusual sounds/knocks/clicks from the motor, clutch, tranny, suspension etc. The car sounded and felt so damn good I forgot to test the radio. After the purchase I discovered the passenger door speaker was busted lol. I never listen to the radio anyway, the car sounds way better than anything that could come from a speaker anyhow. All in all, I feel like I got a great deal. Hopefully the same happens for you. Good luck!

that's cheap for retail, well, not cheap but at the lower end of the range

don't expect top dollar for the c4 if they are selling the Z at a fair price

Nope, never. Either someone had the stock ones chromed or someone bought a set of chrome replicas (which would be my bet). OEM speedlines are more valuable and lighter than the replicas if that's the case, and they aren't terribly cheap to replace.

As far as price, no clue on current market, but I will say that compared to my car of same year almost exact same mileage that I bought three years ago, it is not a good deal. Three years ago when I bought though the market on these was quite low, and it's held/crept up since then. Seems fine for dealer pricing, nothing to write home about.

I am actively looking for a Z06, and I agree with racebum- it isn't a bad price as far as being from a dealer. The trouble is, if you are trading in your C4, you'll have to find out what they will allow you on the trade to see if it still would sound like a decent deal. C4 prices are kind of in the tank lately- I sold my 42,000 mile '93 a couple of months ago for just $10,000 and only had 2 inquiries on it. You would probably still be better off selling your Vette yourself and strolling into the dealer with a straight cash offer of $22,500 or $23,000.

I am currently trying to sell my c4 as I am sure I will not get what I would like in trade.
For the mileage and condition it is one of the better price vehicles.
The 6 owners scare me off a bit, not sure if I should be concerned or not?
Looking at the Carfax it does not appear to have had the steering lock fix done by the dealer in the past. Is the steering lock a very prevalent problem?
Thanks for all the replies. I have been reading the forum and trying to do my homework.
These Zo6 cars are beautiful! Trying to be patient so I can find the right one

Is it truly 6 different owners or did the car get bounced around from dealer to dealer thru an auction? Because that can easily tack on a few what looks like previous owners.

The steering lock isnt super prevalent but enough of a concern to get addressed because it might leave you stranded and needing to get towed. Its cheaper to get it fixed than get towed.

Depends upon where you are in the country (Vette prices vary from region to region). Not sure what the going prices are in Iowa. In the southeastern US states, that price is definitely in line for what 02 Z06 low mileage in very good shape are going for.

You should be able to get him down to about 23-24K total and call it a day.

Would not worry about the multi-owners per se, as long as the Car Fax is totally clean. May not hurt to contact the last owner and find out why they got rid of the car. They should not have any issues with telling you the truth, since they have no reason to be dishonest (unless it is being sold on consigment). If it is a consignment sell, contact the previous owner to the current one.

Since this is a dealer, I would ask them if they are willing to warranty the car for X days. You can buy an aftermarket warranty, but they should be willing to give you minimum 30 day warranty and perhaps a 90 day one. If you are going to encounter any issues, should be within this time period. If the valve springs have not been swapped out (2002-2003 Z06s have weak valve spring issues on about 40% of these year Z06), I would ask them to include this during delivery time.

If they will throw in a 90 day warranty, swap valve springs, and you can get it for 24K, the previous owner states it is SOLID, and it is very good to excellent condition (paint, interior, gauges, etc), I would say it is overall a good buy.

Yes, you could probably get a similar one a little cheaper, but I would rather have the peace of mind. Exactly why I choose to buy my used Corvettes from BuyAVette or a well known dealer like Glynn Smith Chevrolet. Worth an extra 500-1000 to me for a 20K plus investment to assure the car is as advertized, with a stand behind it warranty to boot!

I think it's high. I have the identical car to that but an 01 so less hp. I got chrome oem replica rims as well as the stock rims and new tires. I bought it off the original owner with 31k miles and I paid 18,500

I think it's a fair/slightly high price if the car checks mechanically.

As for the guy who bought the 01Z with 30k for 18.5....I'll buy as many as you can find me for that price with that mileage.

that's the low end of auction prices, this guy is looking at retail, and it's an 02 which on average will pull a couple grand over an 01 all else equal.

your car at retail would have been 20.9 or 21.9 after dickering

Checks.^^^

Op: I have seen several clean 03/04 vettes with 30-35k on the clock sell for 24-25k. I almost bought one. I held out though because I was looking for very low miles. just bought a mint 03 electron blue Z for 29k. Very low miles, 6300 to be exact.

If you are prepared to spend in the 24k range i would sell the C4 private and look for a 2004 Z06 instead.Dealers will always jerk you around on a trade in.The only time i trade a car to a dealer is if the car is pretty much done and i just want to unload it,and i know they will just take it to auction. An 04 will not have the valve spring issue and it will have steel shift forks and better shocks.

The six previous owners would be enough to scare me away. Other than that it is worth around $23k in my market, Oklahoma City.

Ask if he has, or can get the stock Ti's back. Weigh less than the aftermarket ones, and will last forever. If not use it as bargaining tool, tell him they're worth 500.00 Then tell him that the stock rims were lighter and a Z06 is supposed to be light weight and the stockers will cost 200-250 per rim, its worth a shot. He is selling it for a fair price, but it never hurts to try.

I think I paid a very fair price. The tires are original and need to be replaced. I paid kbb private party excellent condition.

OP: I would take your time, that 02 is nothing special. If you are looking for a good deal, sell your c4 private party then shop for a Z with less owners. I think that car is worth around 22k- 23k with the mileage/ number of owners-but the number of owners would scare me away.
