Default New to me z06

Hello!

Glad to be back in a vette. I just drove from michigan to Virginia and trailered this 01 back. 31k miles. I have been wanting one for a long time since I was 10 years old and got to go in a pre production z06 back in 2000.

I am not new to vettes between my dad and I we have had over 25. This is the newest one. Since I am in grad school and living at home, It will share the stable with my dad's 91 zr-1. Ill be sure to beat him.

Now... What to do for the winter.

The car is bone stock aside from an air intake. Is there anything I should be concerned about? I know valve springs do not seem to be as big of a deal on the 01s. I also got the stock wheels

Nice purchase. What'd you have to give for it? 2001's are best because they are the first year of the Z06 (not counting the 60's). :-)

Thanks guys. For some reason, I really wanted an 01 but trust me would have gotten whatever was the best deal. I paid 18,500 which is exactly what I sold my Gto for so that was a nice wash

Congrads to the OP on the purchase. I was under the impression that generally the last year of most Corvette generations are the best as most of the kinks have been worked out.

Thank you very much. I don't believe there has ever been a bad z06. Every year, especially 04 are good years.

I have a '02Z but if I had a choice I would take the '04Z provided they are in identical condition, substantial improvements were made from the initial '01Z to the '04Z and not just the HP., and thus post '01Z has better resale value.

I'm new- this is actually my 1st post on this forum, and just bought an 04 Z06 this january, and been fortunate enough to enjoy my dad's C5 since 97...
while I was reseaching I did see a couple articles/posts about 01's consuming a bit more engine oil.
Congrats on the beautiful car! Aside from the side stripe on the doors its identicle to mine.
IMO: leaving it stock may look boring to some, BUT it's a hell of a lot more sneaky when it comes to having fun "under the radar" ;-)
