Default just out of my own curiosity

Does any one know if the c5's on board dignostics mode where you can read codes has the ability to know if there is a miss in the engine. I know OBD II readers can tell if they do....Just was curious. Also does the on board dignostics mode read all the codes that an obd reader would?

The dash readout will certainly display codes that normal OBDII readers won't. Are there codes that work the other way? I doubt it, but I don't know for sure. And neither one can get at all the data in that a dealer-level scan tool can see, unfortunately.
EDIT: P0300 is 'Engine Misfire Detected'. Not sure if other codes will get you to a specific cylinder or not.

There's a complete list of the codes either in the C5 Tech section or under one of the stickies...unfortunately I downloaded it over a year ago, and it would take me a scavenger hunt to find the link.

The P0300 code is for random misfires and could be any of 8 cylinders. a specific cylinder misfire would come up as a P0301, P0302, etc. thus a p0301 would be cylinder #1 in the firing order and so on. The DIC will show you these codes. The Tech 2 scanner actually shows the cylinders misfiring in real time as the engine is running. Usually it is just a bad spark plug or ignition wire causing the problem. A good spark tester will help in determining the problem. Hope this helps.Good Luck!

Maybe not: the P0301-P0308 codes don't show up on the list I have or the one linked a couple posts up.
Upon further review, they're not in the FSM either. My reading of the FSM section for P0300 indicates that there are separate misfire counters for each cylinder that the Tech2 can read out, but not separate codes. (Caveat: I have a 2004 and some of the codes were changed from earlier models.)
