Default Which tires for the 99?

Ok, getting the safety check done on Monday and if she passes it and the smog (and drives nicely), then she's all mine. Saw it yesterday and loved it.

She does need tires and I was wondering if anyone has had recent experiences with the BF Goodridge All Season SS GForce and the Michelin Pilot Sport All Season Plus?

Thanks

Do you need all season tires?

If by chance you do not drive it in the winter months, I'd recommend the Hankook Ventus tire line. Otherwise, the Michelin A/S tires are good.

The new Michelin A/S 3 is by far the most worthy all-season tire for a sports car, but as others implied you are better off with summer tires if you don't drive the car in freezing temperatures.

I just replaced my rear Continental Extreme Contact DWS tires with another set . Got over 40K miles on them and the fronts are still in great shape.

Thanks everyone. Mostly nice weather but will do rain if need be. I have a diesel truck that I take during most crappy weather. I will call my tire shop tomorrow and check on these suggestions. Thanks!

Michelin or Goodyear run flats are about $1500 . . . Nitto 555's about half that at Discount Tire here in AZ - - have had both and simply depends on whether you want the security of run flats - - or a less expensive, better ride.

Were you ever concerned with some negative reviews regarding the soft sidewalls from the DWS?

If you're not going to drive it when the roads have snow or ice on them, then there's no reason to put all-season tires on, better to go with summer tires suited for dry or wet road conditions. Now whether you want run-flats or not is an entirely different issue.

You can go with the Continental DW (dry wet) tire. I have those and they are outstanding and priced quite low.

No sir, I run about 36 lbs of air pressure and they are fine in the curves.

we almost need a flowchart for these questions that lead to one of a few tires

seems like the v12, re11 and as3 or dws fit virtually every need out there, you just have to pick which of those is more in line with your driving style

If you are not driving in ice/snow go w/a summer tire, better performance all around (excluding ice/snow)
If you just want some tires to get by with for a while,
today I saw Tirerack has a set of Hankook Ventus on closeout for $380

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....e&autoModClar=

Im not sure how well they perform, reviews seem good & great price.
So you could put some of that Michelin Pilot money in on some updates/maintenance or......... perf. mods on the new ride.

BFs are good in every department except tread-ware.

Any way hope every thing goes good for you & officially join the Corvette family.
Good luck.

Default Thank you everyone

I went with the Continental DWS tires filled at GM recommended tire pressure from the door.

It was a tough choice but one thing for sure were the Nitto's aren't even in the correct rating. Off by about 15 mph. Not a big deal if not pushing the limits of 100mph or close to it. Just FYI.

Default I like them

vs what I had on them before which were, heck, I don't know.

I can't compare them to any other of the recommendations but will see how they do at wear at the next oil change.

I just took a spin today for the first time not on good year run flats in my 99. Holy Cow what a difference. I could actually hear myself in the car, and the ride was so smooth I thought I was in a new car. I put Tire rack bridgestone potenza's on the car. 769 shipped for zo6 size tires. It feels like I could do 150 on an off ramp with my eyes closed. not that I would ever try that lo l
