Maxx's C5Z Project "Widebooty"
Well over the past month and a half or so i've been working on a widebody flared fender conversion on my Z06. I always loved how much more of an aggressive look it gives the car and of course the added tire size. I started to do some homework on the subject to see what kind of cost this will run and if the look i want would work with my brake setup (Baer Eradispeed +2 rotors).
Here's my Z before:
After looking at both sides of the coin I decided to pull the trigger and ordered some TPE T2 Quarter Panels.
Previously i was running CCW 505a's 19x10 front "2" lip and 19x11 rear "3" lip. Ended up selling the whole set of CCW's to start fresh. I've always been a fan of the fat lip look on some of the widebody cars out there. Unfortunately, CCW only makes lip sizes to their specs on their website. Therefore in order to get a large lip size i'd have to go with a 20x12.5 to be able to get a "4.5" lip. There wasn't very much tire selection to go with that would suit my driving needs and the power the my Z06 puts out. After much research i decided to go with Michelin Pilot Sport Cups in a 335/25/20 for the best traction given the setup.
Old wheels in great shape sold.
New wheels in wider sizes for the rear and more lip.
Richey Collision Inc. here in Houston did the body and paint work on the panels and did a hell of a job.
Current awkward look with skinny wheels:
Tires are on order and I have a few other small things to add before finalizing the conversion. More updates to come!

Car looked good before and is gonna look even better when you're done with it. I think the tire selection is what made me second guess those 19's. Can't wait to get my new rims.

Your car is going to look great when you get everything back together. Love the flares and the new wheels.

I was just fixing to PM you and see if you were done, I didn't see your car over there when I was there last week. I was going to tell you to get a tiger shark front end done at the same time, car looks great as always. Now I have to sell mine, can't have someone else with a similar look as me in this great town of 4 million. I should have dropped something in your car while it was in the shop, just to surprise you some. L8R ZFLASH

What are the new wheel specs for the rear (size, offset, lip, etc?). I just ordered a set of TPEs and need to start planning for the new wheels.
Looks spectacular!

Your car was definitely one of the ones that inspired me to go with this look. A friend in town has a yellow C5 Vert with the tiger shark front bumper and same wheel setup. Looks great! Hopefully we can get together soon for a shoe shine party.
They're 20x12.5 with a 4.5 lip. Not many tire options and they're pricy as hell but I only drive my car maybe 3k or so miles a year so they should last me a good while.

Looking good Maxx! Are the tires going to be in on time for the big HPD show this Sunday? I'm heading down there to see my daughter but will also be participating in the show if I can finish my mods on time.

Unfortunately no, i'd still have to get an alignment done before riding around in the car. Looking to knock all this out next week. Just in time for coffee and cars that weekend!

You can borrow mine if you want ,for a VERY BIG price that is . By the way,you didn't ask me before. I was running Nittos before what I have now and they couldn't handle what I had underneath. I think you made a wise choice considering your HP. I'm taking some time off 8-15 thru 8-26,maybe you,Steve and I can get together for some pics. L8R ZFLASH
As far as tires go i'm sure i'll get a lot less miles out of the Michelin Pilot Sport Cups but hopefully i'll be able to enjoy the car much better.
Sounds good! I'm definitely in for sure, Steve's been wanting to shoot some pictures so once we decide on a good place we'll set it up. I'll keep you posted.
