Quick column lock bypass question
I just got a new-to-me Z06, and it's been a while. My last C5 Z06 sold in 2006.
I'm trying to figure out if I have the bypass or not.
What I don't remember is the effect of the column lock bypass. What I seem to remember is when it's active, the wheel moves a bit when it locks.
On the current car, I hear the slight buzz sound, but the wheel doesn't move.
Any thoughts?

Just installed the LMC5 a few weeks ago. Simple, clean install.
If you decide to go this route there is a very good video on youtube. One caution not in the video. The paper instructions have you pull a fuse prior to starting. Not doing that becomes a tad bigger project. Don't ask how I know.

I agree about the K harness being installed on cars that shouldn't have them. Just this last week a guy here in Arizona just bought an FRC. Helped him through emails to get the CLB installed. Come to find out the dealership installed the harness. After I told him to throw it away his car was up and running again. I have had the CLB installed in my car since '07 and have had zero problems with it.

Did the LMC5 install last week. Once you unplug the harness going to the column lock, there's no way the column can lock on you. Also, if you have any questions along the way, the tech support from Richard is great. Highly recommend going the LMC5 route. Also, do the install before your column locks and subsequently won't unlock or I thought it wasn't going to. I found out the hard way not to wait until the column locks to do the install.

Just do it I did it as mine locked in my drive way, at first I could not get it to unlock but had to hit the steering column a few times, works great. (LMC5)

Either product will work, but seems like a lot of owners are now going with the LMC5 and solving the column lock problem. Whichever way you go, good luck with the install.

The GM Column Lock recall on the 97 - 2000 automatic replaced the lock plate with a small diameter lock plate that prevents the column from physically locking. No key in the ignition and steering wheel turns is what you should have happening. Tells you nothing about the presence or lack of a CLB or LMC5.
When you insert the key in the ignition and just as you start to turn the key to the start position listen carefully for a soft bzzzzzzzzt coming from the plastic covering around the column. Also when you remove the key from the ignition listen for the same sound.
If you hear the noise then there is NOT a CLB or LMC5 installed. If there is no noise then there is either a CLB or LMC5 installed. LMC5 is installed in the passenger foot well directly attached to the BCM, large silver box next to the IP fuse box behind the toe kick. The CLB if one is installed is not easily seen without dropping the driver side knee bolster.
