Default Road Trip to Factory

My wife and I took a road trip to Bowling Green this week. We took the assembly plant tour. Very high tech. They told us they are planning to double the output of the c7. They produce about 175 Corvettes per day at present - one shift M-F 0600 - 1600. Maintenance has 2 shifts, paint has 2 shifts. Overall I was very impressed with the engineering and pure awesomeness of the c7 assembly.

We saw about 10 test c7 Z06's on the line. Very cool!! One interesting engineering item was their solution to a heat issue on the Z06 transmission. They mounted an electric fan in the driver's side rear corner assembly. Seriously! I wish I could post a picture of that.

I took a few pictures of my 2003 AE convertible at the museum at the entrance and in front of where the big hole is. It is fenced off from the public. It was about a 400 mile trip. The car did great, no issues at all. Kept the top up, it was in the 90's each day.

I'll be there next Tuesday 6-24 just not in the Vette. It will be a family trip. Hopefully next year the wife and I can take the Vette and do the NCM Xperience! 700 mile trip one way for me.

I've went to the Museum in 2002 so it's been a while. I have tickets for the plant tour which will be a first for me.

I was there many years ago, to the factory and the museum. Actually, they had just started building C5. Hope to return some day.

As a side note. Off the the east a ways from Bowling Green, is Mammoth Caves, not too far as I recall. A wonderful side trip from BG, and something for kids and adults. Great adventure to see, if you have time.

Yeah we went there back in 2002. It was actually for my honeymoon! What an AWESOME wife. I did not have a Corvette then though. This family trip will be my Dad, my twin Brother and his youngest son who is 11 and my 9 year old Daughter all on their first visit. As mentioned earlier this will e my 2nd visit. I would go more often but it's just so far away from home. Kind of a Bucket list trip for my Dad and Brother.

I was there Wed. There were 5 deliveries going on at once over at the Museum.

Coolest one had plates "ROCNUSA".

Talked with one guy and he was from the Museum right to a mod shop! Headers, exhaust, clearbra...

The museum and plant are great places to visit. Nice pics you got of your car at the museum too.
