let me give ya a back story. I purchased the vehicle with 2nd gear going out a few years ago. no big deal I just skipped 2nd. well after the years it finally went out last September. so in october I put in a used trans from an 04 and everything was great. then a month or so later 2nd gear starts grinding again. I couldn't believe that its the same problem in 2 transmissions. so I parked it and ive read on the forum about changing the shifter bushings. so I took it apart and the bushings were rotted. I ordered new ones and put them in and as I was driving and adjusting it, 2nd gear works awesome. but not it grinds in other gears which makes me think it cant be the trans if the problem travels. I then put in amsoil and it helped but not completely. so then I just did the shifter. what happens is if I shift slow then its perfect, not a problem. if I shift faster than normal then it does the slight grind going into gear. yet 2nd gear is perfect now. if I try and downshift without going slow then it grinds bad. im not ignorant or stupid, im not ruling out the trans but I just find it very peculiar that when I change something the problem goes to a different gear. next ill bleed the master cylinder.
any input would greatly help.

and lets just assume that it isn't the trans. id hate to replace it only for the problem to still be there. I feel that because I already replaced the trans.

Hope you can eventually figure out just what is causing the problem.

Have you verified proper clutch disengagement? Not sure what the dimension is, not at home. You would have to get it in the air and measure. Good thing to verify anytime you have shifting issues.

it has a new ls7 clutch in it and it was checked last time it was on lift. however I do agree with you because its like it isn't working. im constantly getting a slight grind.

might need to shim the clutch, my buddy had to do that with his LS7 clutch setup to make it stop grinding. I dont remember exactly was shimmed but it had to come out and some shims were put in between the Throw out or something like that.
