[Z06] Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sport 305s are discontinued

Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sport 295s are discontinued
I'm looking for new tires for my 2003 C5 Z06. I want to get the Bridgestone Potenzas RE760 Sport tires in stock sizes because I've read on the forums that they are pretty good.
I called Costco because I saw from the forums that they have these tires. According to them, the 295s are discontinued. I then called Discount Tire because I found them advertising these tires on their website. They told me their system is showing the 295s having very little availability, and they told me that means the tires are probably discontinued.
The guy said his stores still have some tires, so I can still purchase them if I want to. So my question is: Should I get discontinued tires?
EDIT: According to post #35, these tires are NOT discontinued. Sorry!
I guess the only problem would be I would probably have to get an entire new set if one of my tires gets ruined at low miles, right?

Just got mine not too long ago. They are sweet. Get them and enjoy them. Sucks to hear they are discontinued. Makes new tires that much harder to come by without going broke.

doubtful, usually discontinued tires have been out of production for at least a year
nt05 is going to be a lot better performer and the way they are cast, the 275 is short and the 295 tall. almost identical height split to OE
i'm kind of happy to see the re760 go really. they just weren't that great of a tire. sidewall too soft, limit of traction too low. more of a commuter tire for a civic

I installed a set of the RE760s on my '04 CE Z06 in April. I have put nearly 2,000 miles on them so far and am very pleased with the overall performance. I chose them mostly due to cost, but I would buy them again. They have given the Z a smoother and quieter ride compared to the OEM F1s and , for the type of driving I do, that is the result I wanted. If I were tracking the car, perhaps I would have gone with a different tire. I would recommend the 760s to anyone looking for a good street tire at a great price.

Thank you everyone for the replies!
How do you read that date code? Is it 4/7/2013? I didn't check Tire Rack yet.
How do you check the date codes?
If these tires don't work out, I might end up going with Michelin Pilot Sport PS2s. Are those tires getting kind of old now in terms of technology?

IMO, having dealt with all 3 of the tires considered. Bridgestone is the one for me. Longest lasting, and best in wet conditions. Those supercar tires were terrible IMO. Lots of road noise, terrible grip in anything but very dry climates, very rough riding.
Best performance though is the Pilot Sport. lots of grip, but not great when wet. Long lasting wouldnt describe these tires. But they ride very smooth and respond very well.
In short, unless you are a professional driver, you wont notice a difference between the pilot and the Bridgestone. But you will notice how hard the supercar tires ride (in its defense, all run-flats ride rough) Well... your wallet will notice the difference. lol

BTW, I have the RE760 and for the price, I believe they are a good tire. If you're canyon carving, autocrossing, etc., there are probably better (read more expensive) tires out there. But if you objective 5k miles a year, don't drive it daily, get on it once in a while, the RE760 will do just fine...

Yea, this should be no mourning for the loss of these tires. I had the Potenza S-04s, which were a significant step up from the RE760, and I wasn't impressed. Well, the grip was great, but the response was terrible. Why buy a Z06 and cheap out on tires?

1. much more responsive
2. much stickier
3. has better communication at the limit
4. both suck in the wet so it's a wash there
in all seriousness new wheels really are getting to be a necessity for a c5z. i realized this last year when i went 19/18 in order to run the michelin pss.

4. both suck in the wet so it's a wash there
5. more expensive
6. do not come in stock size for front

i agree with that in general. but if you look at the casing height of the nt05 specifically, it doesn't have the same problem as the DW
for example
re 760 front is 25.4"
re 760 rear is 26.1
the nt05 front is 25.6
the nt05 rear is 26.2
the average 275 40 17 is 25.7 and the average 295 35 18 is 26.1, in the case of the nt05 there is only .1" difference between it and the 760
the DW on the other hand is uses a 26-26.1" rear and a 25.7" front which is quite a bit different than the nt05
overall width of the front nt05 is 10.8" and the re760 is 10.7, the nt05 also has a square sidewall which gives a great appearance, unlike the more baloony DW
i do not blanket recommend the 275/295 combo on OE wheels for the OE look or potential ACS issues, but, the math on the nt05 is 99% ideal when you crunch the numbers
also not really a huge price difference if you get discount to price match the lowest found nt05 prices $100-150 a set
if the re760 is going away this will become the only real option left. the ps2 now uses different compounds in the 265 and 295 due to porsche and the supercar is a wretched value worth similar money to the 760, def no more.
