Default convertible tops

I'm interested in a c5 convertible...are the tops tight...i.e. does the wind and rain stay out? I remember old convertibles...not very tight

Very tight , I do not drive my car in the rain. Tops are well made.

Mine goes flying off on the highway all the time

Keep the seals in good condition and they are as good as any soft top on any price point car

I agree that they are very tight and while I don't drive mine in the rain, I did get caught in a heavy rainstorm last summer and didn't get a drop of rain in the car. When on the highway with the top up they may be a little noisier than a coupe, but it's not something that bothers me. The fun of being able to drive with the top down when you wish is why I have the car and I haven't run into any downside.

No problems when I get caught in the rain either. Just check to make sure your udders are clear every now and then so you won't get water in side. Mine were clogged when I first bought the car and until I asked on here didn't know what was going on.

The top on my 03 is nice and tight. No leaks during rain, but I have not been is a big down pour or windy rain with it. Nice and quiet going down the road with the top up, but I put the top down whenever I can. -Glenn

Yep, tight. But it cost me $1700 to have a new one put on - just because PO didn't adjust the top and let the window corners fray the corners.

Test drive a c5 vert threw a carwash, if it doesn't leak buy it..
Enjoy the wind in your face and don't worry about a few rain drops on your floor mats.

I replaced the top on my 2000 about a year ago. New Robbins top cost just at $800 and installation was $350. Then add in new rubber seals on the top frame and you add another $450. You are now at $1600. That does not include the main weatherstrip seal from the hood corners across the top of the windshield frame. If you need that one there is another $400.

Price of top, rubber seals, pneumatic struts, installation. All added up. Top and install was probably $400 less than total.
