Default Treated badly by Ecklers

Approximately two weeks ago I ordered a set of wheels from Ecklers. My MC account was charged over $900 but then I received a call from Ecklers that the wheels were back ordered. Upon finding that out, I cancelled the order and requested a refund.

In my view, it is unreasonable behavior to charge for something not shipped.

Then, according to PayPal, Ecklers erroneously credited my PayPal account instead of correctly crediting my MC account for the refund.

It has taken an additional hour on line and half an hour on the phone, a week after cancelling the order, to get assurance that my money will be back in my MC account- in the next 3- 5 days, two and a half weeks after being charged for something not shipped.

Agreed, but plenty of places do it and get away with it.

I agree that you should not have been charged prior to shipping. Hope that everything gets settled on your account.

That's Ecklars way of doing business. ( lesson learned ) many on line places have to same practice. As far as all the time spent.. with two key strokes you could have taken the refund from your pay pal account and moved it to your MC account. No phone calls needed and no grief. They returned your money to an active pay pal account. Your account. Just as if it was money. You could have taken that money and paid yourself or your MC account instantly. My pay pal account is instant transfer.

Why would anyone deal with Ecklers when there are so many good companies out there ? It seems that they don't care if they ever see repeat customers.

The few things that I have bought at Ecklers turned out fine, but I guess that I was lucky.

YEARS ago, long before the CF was around, I did a lot of work on a '79 C-3 that my wife used to own. During that time, I did some business with Ecklers, and they were pretty good to deal with. Since then, the ownership has changed (possibly twice), and all the stories I hear aren't positive....

At one time Ecklers were the best for customer support and products on hand, and fast shipping, back in it's day, but like all other companies don't keep parts on hand, is one reason I call, and ask the venders are they in stock before I buy.

Try dealing with Amazon some time, they are pretty bad. You want a real laugh, try calling Amazon, I think Bezos is the only guy in the US.

I used to buy a lot from Ecklers years ago and they were a good company , but not so for many years now. They just don't care anymore.

I've dealt with Ecklers since the late 70's and they've been great . . but Ralph Eckler sold his business about 10 years ago and the new "corporate" owner doesn't seem to have the same sense of customer service that you would when your name's on the business/building.

As far as charging the card - - -Eckler's probably doesn't stock that wheel but turns around and has it drop shipped from another distributor (remember, it's probably made in China and warehoused with distributors) It would be typical that Eckler would get charged when they order from the distributor, so they charge the purchaser and assume the product will be shipped promptly.

In this case, that ocean going container full of their wheels is probably still "in route"-- hence, the delay.

But it would seem that they sure could have handled it more effectively . . . .

Took a few looks at their prices in comparison to others many years ago and decided I wouldn't ever be doing business with them anyway.

You may occasionally, forcibly bend me over and put it to me.....but I will NEVER voluntarily bend over and invite you to have at me!!!!!
