I no real knowledge with those but I would assume that you just have to remove your existing visor and connect the new one and then program the home link, it should run off the same power source as the original visor with a mirror. I did the DIY version and it works fine and about a 10th of the price they are wanting for them on the auction site.
Just make sure you have the rolling code version of the home link.

Thanks for the reply! I had it in my last '04, such a nice lil mod. Yea $225 on the auction site!! If they sold them for say $150, they would sell much more of them.

I sure will. I just emailed directly from his auction site listing. Just type C5 Corvette Homelink.

I bought a used homelink visor from the auction site for $20 removed the homelink and installed it in my visor. A local upholstery shop stitch it back together at no charge.
Here is a installation link I used http://www.digitalcorvettes.com/foru...ad.php?t=40470

And lose money on every one sold.

I would love to have this done, but I've already had my visors covered with Vette Essentials leather and I don't want to butcher mine up. Plan B would be the Homelink rear view mirror, but since I own a vert, I can't find one that also has map lights.

I don't think he would butcher your visor. I think he just opens it up, installs homelink module, and stitches it back up. Mine looks perfect!

I found Homelink units on ebay for $20.00 shipped. I am going to install the one I just bought into my new visor. Undo the stitching mount the unit inside the cover, slit the cover to gain access to the buttons, paint the bezel black and take the visor to a local upholstery shop to stitch the cover back together. Twenty bucks and I'll do it on my workbench. Wish me luck.

I ordered a Homelink visor from Eckler's when I purchased my 2003 about 18 months ago. If I remember is was pricey, about $250. The install was not too bad.

Default added homlink to visor (mod) thanks to forum

I followed the instructions in this forum and elsewhere and ordered a $20 homelink module from the "auction" site. Did the visor mod yesterday.

I learned a few things that may help someone else.
First I temporarily wired it directly to a 12V battery to test & program it in the garage before opening the visor. I found youtube instructions that worked. Had to reset it a few times before I got it right (hold two outer buttons).

Also, to reduce the bulk I removed the plastic connector from the edge of the circuitboard and soldered lil wires to the metal strips directly.

I used a dremel wheel to cut the mdf, and then after soldering I used a hot glue gun to secure the wires and the homelink to the mdf too. I didn't think the OEM visor sticker adhesive would remove cleanly so I strategically positioned the homelink buttons in order to keep the sticker intact.

After testing it again using the actual C5's 12V plug I sewed it back together myself by hand. It came out pretty well - - my advice is to take extra care & time to sew thru as many of the original holes as possible! My stitching is not perfect, but no one else would probably notice it. Someday I'll get my visors re-done in Leather, so I'm sure the stitching will be car-show ready then.

Thanks to this forum I'm enjoying homelink that looks good and works 100X better than the old "clicker". I think the tan color matches my 2001 Vert Light Oak pretty well so I'm not planning on painting it black.

So thanks to the encouragement we get from everyone who's posted on this in the past I guess this lil project is finished!
