C5 CAGS Defeat Install
I just ordered the CAGS Defeat from Southern Car Parts and read the instructions posted below the parts description on their site. Looks like it couldn't be any easier. My question is about jacking it up. Can I just lift one side of the car to get to the plug or do I have to lift the whole front (or rear)? Any install pictures around?

I don't see how you could safely jack up one side of the car. It would be sitting on the jack stand at an angle. Using ramps or jacking up one end would be much safer in my opinion.

Perhaps too late now but Compliance Auto Parts sells a CAGS defeat that does not require getting under the car. Installs in the passenger foot well AND also keeps the 1 to 4 light on the dash from coming on. That light is still illuminated with the resistor setup you ordered

I'll also note that the customer service was outstanding. I had an issue with my column lock when installing the LMC5. I called the support number and Richard was extremely knowledgeable about what was the issue and we solved it very quickly.
Definitely glad to have both those installed on the Vette. Should have done it a couple years ago, would have saved myself some headaches.

Ordered the CAGS Shift Eliminator from Southern Car Parts. I am not concerned if the light comes on for a second. Someday I will have it programmed out. I read somewhere that someone backed there car up onto a pair of Rhino Ramps. I am curious if the front end will hit if I do this. I have a jack and jack stands, but the ramp idea would be quicker. Any experiences from members on backing your C5 up onto ramps? The car is stock height from the ground and stock wheels and tires.

You can just lift up the rear driver's side and install the CAGS eliminator. Very easy to do, just be sure to put a jack stand under the car also for added safety.

I just finished installing the CAGS Shift Eliminator a few moments ago. Piece of cake and took all of two minutes to do (when you locate the correct place to install it). I had to call Dave at Southern Car Parts and ask a dumb question about the correct location, but he was GREAT! Truly a wonderful company to deal with......test drive with it tomorrow....cannot wait! Thanks again to all those who chimed in on the thread and a special thank you to Dave!
