12 disc CD changer woes - a proposal to the forum
The 12 disc changer in my C5 jammed up today. The magazine would not eject, and it would not play.
I removed it from the car, tore it down and after reassembling it the unit works again as it should.
I have a proposal for the forum:
Someone send me their broken 12 disc changer. I will make a tutorial video and take pictures of the process to nearly completely disassemble it down to a pile of pieces, remove the jammed magazine and CDs and reassemble it. If it contains any of your CDs jammed up inside I will return them to you if you want them.
Once done, I will post the tutorial on the forum here for everyone's benefit including all the ins and outs of the workings of the player. I'll detail how it removes CDs from the magazine, how it moves from one slot to the other, what holds the magazine in place / ejects it, which motors move what, hoe the optical sensors that manage the operations operate, etc.
Anyone have an old broken unit on a shelf they are willing to part with for the benefit of all Corvette DIY fans?
Any takers?

I bet a lot of them are in the trash. Especially with the availability of iPod adapters and alike. I'm sure if you can do a video it will help some folks.

I prefer CD's over Ipods, although I use an Ipod. However I also have some CD's recorded I also play. But I don't have a changer. Thanks for going to the trouble of doing this for folks.

Is it difficult to put a changer in a vette that never had one to start with?I was thinking that if TraceZ is going to post a DYI I might consider installing one as I don't do i-Pod.
Thanx

I do not have the external CD changer in my car, but it would be interesting to see what you come up with.
