Default repairing and painting car

I started the process of filling the holes the previous owner put in the hood to install hoodpins. While I'm at it, I'll be adding ghost stripes. Here are some pics of the progress. I'll be accomplishing this at my friends shop law dawg restorations here in orlando.

Can't wait till you show your completed car, starting to shape up right.

More pics. Hood comes off tonight to go into the media blasting booth. Last pic shows a sealer application. Did that so it wouldn't absorb moisture while I drove it home last night

Bet the holes show back through in no time without any matte under the repair (even with matte you'll most likely see it after a few months on a dark car. You probably would be better with a replacement hood, used ones are cheap and with no repairs to show through. Lot of stress at that location since the latch is right there on both sides.

We'll see. I've known my friend for over 10 years.. he's done full frame off restorations. I'll get the name of the stuff he used to fill the holes with. He told me it was for strength.

Pretty sure I know what it is, it's just a tough spot to repair without it eventually showing through. That stuff will continue to shrink for a while, specially in the SUN since the hood gets cooked all the time.

So long as it holds over for a couple years I'm good with it. Those spots do tend to vibrate and bounce no doubt. Thought about a raised hood but not in the cards for now.

Also going to fix the hatch as the clear has all but completely vanished. I did buff it out just to make it look Ok last week.

Nice work! I wish I had ability to do that, I am stuck paying outrageous amounts to get my car repainted blue. Original owner decided to put a red stripe down electron blue... Not too great looking so I have been working to get bits repainted.

I don't have the ability either. I just know someone who does. I just do the grunt work he does the fancy stuff

Shoot lots of clear on it so you can block sand it smooth again in a year or so when the filler shrinks.

Used body panels are plentiful and cheap. Not worth repairing that kind of damage that will probably just come back.

The minimal cost of repairing versus even getting a used hood shipped is cheaper. We'll see if it comes back. I have confidence in my friend who's been doing this kind of work since he was a kid.
