I learned a cool trick on hoods. Before you remove your hood, drill two small holes, (1/16 max.) one on each end, in the hinge plates where adjustments are made. That way, when you put the hood back on, just put a pin in each of the two holes before you tighten the bolts completely and the hood will up perfectly. Remove the pins before you close the hood.
Don't mean to steal anyone's thunder. I just thought I would mention it.

That's an old trick, but always worthwhile to mention to younger people who are starting a new bodywork/painting project, and may not be aware of it...

Vette hood is easy to adjust, when I did my hood, you can slide underneath to tighten the hinge bolts. Since I put a new MCM hood on back then, the drill trick would not work.
