[Z06] Low oil after a week

Low oil after a week
Got my oil changed last Wednesday. Its now Friday and i got the low oil sign.
When idling, a bit of white smoke comes out of the exhaust. Could bad valve seals burn the oil that quickly?

If it's burning that much oil and there's white smoke out the exhaust pipes, then something major is wrong. Could be valve guides or rings. What's the history of the car?

Did you check the dipstick to verify its actually low?
If it truly is low...
Is there a puddle of oil under the car? Could be someone didnt tighten the drain plug or oil filter properly and you lost oil.
The bit of white smoke at idle is most likely water vapor.

Dont know the history of the car apart from the fact that it has cams, intake and a tune.
The oil is actually low.
The odd part is that i took it to a mechanic and he said there was a bit of oil leaking through the bottom portion of the engine but it wasn't bad enough to make a difference.

I am assuming you had someone do it for you then? Are you absolutely sure they filled it all the way/put enough oil in? Did you check it yourself?

Have you checked to see if oil is leaking anywhere? Under the car did you look/feel for dripping oil on pan, block, exhaust.... Check oil filter for tighten/leaks??
Dealer change your oil or a buddy do it for a case of beer kind of thing?

Theres no oil under the car. But there is a bit by the oil pan. Not sure how i should go about solving this.

If you can get under the car and try to trace the oil dripping down or feel around under there... Tuff to burn thru all that oil in that short period of time.... If you did your car would have looked like a choo choo train coming Down the tracks.....

The filter was coming loose and thats where we suspect the leakage was from. Got the oil drained all the way and got me some new oil and filter.
Ill be checking it all week to see whats up.

Glad it wasn't anything serious. That's one more reason I change the oil in all of our vehicles myself. Not to mention stories of oil lube places not even replacing filters, loose/stripped plugs etc....

Called it Glad it was a simple fix!
I go to a local oil/lube place but totally trust them... a bunch of younger guys that are mostly all into racing and I talk with them and watch them as they change my oil... its not worth the mess in my garage and crawling under my car to save $20.

Its a small shop. I decided to go for a quick stop before the weekend started. Read a few reviews and they were all 5 stars. That was probably before their filters fell off.
Never going there again, thats for sure.
