Jakes skull logo - cool or played out?
Dropping my seats off next week to have them recovered in black & gray and foam replaced. I want to have the headrest embroidered and at first planned on a C5 Corvette emblem but I've seen soooo many with that same thing so kinda thinking of having the Jakes skull and maybe even adding Corvette Racing under it. I'm on the fence about about the logo. I think the newest one it's way cool. But it's Everywhere too. Never seen seats done with it so could be kinda cool and different. But just wondering how y'all felt towards the logo in general still cool? Or played out?

I actually was thinking the same thing about adding Jake to my headrests as well. I bought the Wind Restrictor in plain. I added Jake to the restrictor and it looks great. It's all about what you like and not what others think in my opinion.

The logo has been around for quite a while but has had a new resurgence in popularity with the C7R I think its way cool but I also see it it EVERYWHERE and on every thing. So as cool as I think it is I also feel its kinda played out and maybe too much to have embroidered on a head rest. Thats why i was wondering what y'all thought

I totally agree with ya and in the end I will make up my own mind since it is my car and I do what I like to it. But sometimes we need the opinion of our friends to help us make up our own mind on whats tasteful... in the end we are all gonna do what we are gonna do though.

Also been considering doing a custom Pirate logo and following my pirate theme. I don't plan on selling the car and could always just have that section of the seat replaced pretty inexpensively if I tire of it.... I dunno just wanting something a little different and my own. One thing for sure though different doesn't always mean it was a good idea LOL

I think it's cool, however I associate it with the C6 generation. Time for something new for the C7 and it was never anything I associated with the C5.

The Jake skull was way cool when it came out. While it certainly has lost some of its edge over the years, I still think it is cool, especially with the updated C7 version. That said, it was a C6 (and is now a C7) thing - doesn't seem like it belongs on a C5.
But like others have said, if YOU like it, go for it!

Jake was born as a result of the success of the C5R race team so I don't see the logo as a "C6 thing" at all. Jake has become synonymous with the domination of Corvette in the race world so I think he fits in wherever anyone wants to put him.

I personally never thought of it as belonging to any generation of car myself. I always just associated it with Corvette racing in general. It was born of the wins of the 2004 C5R team but became reality on the 2005 C6R I personally have a bit of thing for the Pirate Life (in case that wasn't obvious ) and to me a recognized skull symbol for Corvette racing in any generation is right up my alley. I least I have a whole week to over think it and change my mind 40-50 times

I never did care for Jake on anything but a Corvette Race Car.
