The way I look at it is there all corvettes. It's like the father of a newborn baby standing there looking at it through the window at the hospital. His baby maybe ugly. But he still takes it Home and loves it. After all they're all corvettes. And I love all corvettes.

I like corvettes alot. But I must say I think the C3 is the ugliest corvette ever made. Im sure ill get hate for saying that but its my opnion, and it wont change. To me the best looking corvettes are the C5, C2, C6. but to the OP go drive both and see what you like more. everyone has a diffrent opnion at the end of the day yours is the only one that matters.

I went from a C5 to a C6. The biggest difference is the motor. My 99 had the LS1 which had 345HP, my LS3 has 436HP. I didn't really like the base C6 so I bought the widebody Grand Sport. This thing is a beast, it has massive brakes & rotors, unbelievable handling & just looks mean & exotic with its wide stance.

Thanks for all the input, hope I didn't cause any unneeded stress by pitting C5ers again C6ers! I would also love to have one from each era! Maybe driving a 6 or 7 will sway my moderate bias

Wide body C6's blow the C5 out of the water. I know there are some biased loyal C5 owners on here but thats just the way it is. They knocked it out of the park with the GS/Z06.
At this point, It comes down to price. A run of the mill C5 goes for $10-$15k. A Grand Sport or Z06 are in the $40k range. Regular C6's dont appeal to me at all.

The interior is significantly improved in the C6 over the C5. With that said, while I was shopping around for several months for my Vette, I found that the general opinion in terms of desirability is as follows:
C6Z > C6B LS3 > C5Z > C6B LS2 (I won't even mention the C5B LS1, who cares).
For me the C6Z was out of the question because I was not going to spend $40K on a used car. And I really wanted a C6B LS3, but they were easily $10K more expensive than the C5Z. In terms of performance, I couldn't justify spending the additional $10K and I decided on a C5Z... Happy with my decision.

Although I would still rather have my c5z over c6b ls3

there is enough different on the two cars to make them really each there own...both share a host of electronic computers that control this and that, the early C5's still suffer from the EBCM issue to where as the late C5's that issues is fixable, and hopefully soon the early C5's..most all parts are interchangeable between the C5 and C6, which in its self is pretty amazing, the C6 is a much more refined car, with more creature comforts as compared to the C5.

So many different opinions can be made. But if youre talking about which is the best to modify, the answer is quite simply a base c5. Why would you pay more for a car that you will change the same things out on anyway? I bout my 99 for $15k with 58k miles. Around $12k later and it destroys C6Z06's. Still a way cheaper option.

The C6 is a superior machine in many ways to the C5. Base model to base model, no comparison performance wise.
But when we start talking looks and mods,,,I have built a C5 that can hang with all C6's except the mighty C6 Z06 and IMHO is way better looking than any C6!
As far as the C7, gotta love it if you are a Vette lover, the next step in the right direction!

It's great that there are still a few people that like the C6 so they don't become orphans because they have a look that only a mother would love. Too heavy looking and overdone with plain interior, and those huge headlights ? ? ? They tried to copy the Viper and now we watch videos of the Viper being crushed. No tears here !

I think alot more than a "few" people like the C6 lol. That first sentence perfectly describes C5's and their pop up headlights more than anything. Nobody likes pop up headlights anymore, thats a thing that went out of style in the 80s that Chevy somehow waited until mid 2000s to get rid of. The only people that like them are guys who like the nostalgic factor from the past. You cant talk about C6 interior being plain when you own a C5.

I'll hold onto my C5 for a while. After that there is a Atomic Orange C6Z out there somewhere with my name on it.
