Married 33 years with two kids. We have always had a "toy" car in our garage. About 18 years ago we decided we didn't need one anymore.
First spring after that decision we bought another and have never regretted it.
Drive the Corvette!!!
Good Luck!

Man , How many times I've heard this story. A guy sells his prize car because he gets married or is starting a family. Then it takes thirty years to get it back when his obligations are done. Once you sell the car , there is always something that comes up to take your money and some guys never get their dream car back so then it just becomes a dream. Bottom line , if it is paid off do not sell it. Look at that car as it doesn't exist. The money that you will need for other things always seems to come from other sources. Trust me on this. You will agree later on.

If you got the money,(but especially the time) then keep it but personally I'm the family type. If you want to be serious about the dad thing you aren't going to have a lot of time for yourself anymore and cars just accumulate problems as they sit. The boat is more family inclusive.
Maybe I missed it but I didn't see your age (appox). Trim the toys and devote the next ten+ years or so to the kid/kids with the promise to rebuild when they approach DL age. You might never get to the point you can afford another Corvette (lots of us here did just that) and Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think You'll ever regret not washing your car because you were at your kids ball game.
There will be more Corvettes...

That may be very true - sure was in my case. Sold the '00 coupe I had in June 08 and regretted it from the moment the new owner drove off in it. Finally had enough of not having a Vette and bought my current one 14 months later.
Only you can decide what is right for you and your family. Good luck with whatever decision you make.

I broke down last summer after finishing the 4th or 5th mod list for the vette and bought a boat, I had just moved back to the coast and figured what a great way to spend time with the family, I've spent a total of about 10 or 12 days out on her, the rest of the time it's been in the shop getting new big blocks installed.
I should have known I couldn't leave it alone.

For the guy that asked. I just turned 30.
Sold a built supra last year to buy a jeep to build...but somehow ended up with a z06..not that I ever really wanted one, it just kind of happened. I love it...I just dont play with cars much anymore as I would like to. I do regret selling the supra though.

I also have a boat and Vette as toys. Yesterday was the first time I had driven the vette in 3 months. It was 80 degrees so I removed the targa and enjoyed the day. It's been four months since I have had the boat out but as soon as the weather gets stable I will be enjoying it also. I thought about selling them but they are both paid for and cost me very little to keep. If I was carrying a note on either chances are good they would be gone. Since they are paid for I just enjoy them when I can.

Tough question because we all love our Vette's BUT, is there only one garage stall? If so... I think I would have to sell the vette boat and house. Let the misses park in the garage so her and baby don't have to deal with the elements. Find a house with at least two stalls so you can get another fun car. This idea doesn't however address your love for your boat... GL

I would keep it then [although I just sold mine] but I have had 17 Corvettes over the years and was just "bored" with it. I also have a "55" Chevy that occupies my time. I will eventually get another c-5 someday if I'm still on this side of the dirt by then!

If you've lost the passion for the 'vette, sell it. Let someone else enjoy it as much as you did. It's money you can use to pay off the bills or save for expenses when your child is born. You'll know when the time is right for another new toy.

Just think about it. Is it just a car to you, or is it your baby?

I actually changed the oil on it yesterday for the first time since getting it.
Drove it to work today. Just to see how I feel after driving it for a while.

I have a Corvette and a family. I don't drive the Vette as much as I'd like but when I do it is worth it! I don't think a family and a corvette are exclusive of each other.
