Default Tire/Wheel Guys: Need your help

I know these threads come up all the time and I've read through many of them, but I don't want to drop the coin on this without specific consultation with CF tire/wheel gurus.

Be patient with me as I know *zilch* about fitting aftermarket tire/wheel combos, but I know what I like when I see it. I'd like to avoid debates on the merits of 17/18 vs. 18/19 vs 19/20 etc.. I've looked at LOTS of pics and I think 18/19 is right for me. So I'd appreciate it if we could keep this on-topic and focus on determining if this wheel/tire combo will fit correctly together and on the car. i.e. No clearance issues with body/suspension travel/calipers etc.

I know there will be opinions on tire brand and that is less consequential to me right now over getting the tire size right. I also know I have to get TPMS sensors. I've already read up on programming them, so good to go there.

Here goes:

Brickyard Wheels [LINK]
Front 18x9 50mm offset
Rear 19x10.5 65mm offset

BFGoodrich g-Force Sport Comp-2 [LINK]
Fronts: 245/45/ZR18
Rears : 275/40/ZR19

So will this work ok on an otherwise stock C5 Vert?

Finally, any ideas on what I could reasonably expect to get for my stock 5 spoke chrome wheels?

I think you are right on your choice of wheels. The tires you are looking at are too tall. Try to keep the same diameter in the front and back as the stock tires for a lot of reasons. The stock c6 tire sizes are more like it. There are several tire size comparison sites on the web, 18/19 are going to be 40/35 instead of 45/40...

Ahh, so taller rim/lower profile tire? Is that the idea?

This right then?

the correct tire sizes for those wheels on a C5 would be

275/35-18 front
295/30-19 or 305/30-19 rear

Just an FYI Those Brickyard wheels are not available yet. I believe they are due out the end of this month/April.

Those wheels are on the narrow size for a 265/35/18 & 305/30/19. Also don't use a 275/35/18 front tire as the sidewall is 3/16" taller than the 305/30/19 and looks very odd.

I would use OEM C6 sizes 245/40/18 & 285/35/19. And these tires are close to the same height as your C5 Vert OEM, as the 265/35/18 & 305/30/19 are ~.5" shorter.

That's bad advice. A 275/35/18 sidewall is 3/16" taller than a 305/30/19, and taller again than a 295/30/19. And those wheels are on the narrow size for 265/35/18 & 305/30/19 tires.

Thanks Russ. So this is your recommendation right?

Do you want your tire sidewall flush to the rim or do you want it to bulge past the rim?

Also do you want to stay close to original diameters?

Flush for sure. I had to wait for the wheel vendor to open today, unfortunately mguerra is right, they won't be available till sometime in April. So I may go with TSW Nurburgring's instead. They look to have the same measurements as the Brickyards though. So the question still applies.

Edit: TSW Machined Face 19x10.5's are on backorder with no ETA. grrrrrrrrrrr.

Not saying this is gospel but I would think based on most tire manufacturers recommended rim widths you would do

255mm on a 9"
295mm on a 10.5"

But each manufacturers widths vary, are you set on the Goodrich tires?

I want the wheel/tires to fill the gap some. Not interested in lowering the car, just filling the gap a little more. Flush to sidewall.

Nope, more important to get size worked out first. Once I have the size figured out I'll select the brand/model tire.

I bought 265/35/18 and 295/30/19 Michelin PSS with the intention of putting them on TSW wheels in those sizes... but as you have found out they are on back order and no vendor bothers to advertise that fact, so I can't show you what it looks like yet. 305/30/19 would probably be a slightly better match in the rear but that size was not in stock when I ordered.

Dear Vendors:

When an item is on infinite back order with no ETA in sight, please stop advertising it as for sale!

The rim offsets are ok each rim would be outboard .500 from stock c5 rim, depending on how much camber you are running and choosing tires that will be flush to the rim, you would also keep the tires inside or flush to the top of the fender line.

Here is a web site that has a calculator you can use to check specs

my TSW online inventory access shows 2 GM/MAC instock in 19 x 10.5
is this what your looking for?

I have 2 19 x 10.5 matte GM instock here at my shop as well

Brickyards are estimated end of this month. I have a whole bunch of preorders for those as well.

I personally was looking at the silver Interlagos, from what I could find the 18x9's are available but the 19x10.5's are not at 5 different vendors. I'm now thinking of settling for the machined/gunmetal Nurburgring you're looking at instead. I guess gunmetal hides brake dust anyway and it's a more "modern euro" looking wheel which is not necessarily bad.

That is the right size for your wheel choice.
