Default Wife said C5 exhaust sounds like a %^$sy!

Of course she's a Fox body fan so there's just no accounting for taste with that one, but she laid the smack down and I clearly took that as a challenge.

I cannot take drone (just spent a small fortune on deadening materials) so I think Borlas are out. I thought I was going to go with Corsas until I saw Toque's video--those GHL Bullets seem like the perfect mix. Unfortunately the only place I've been able to find them for sale is GHL and they want almost $1k for them. They've had them on sale here for ~$750. Also looks like their vendor page links all go to dead or blank pages.

Any help finding these? I just can't abide the wife saying nasty hurtful things about the C5.

Gotta agree with the wife here, the corvette is a all around superior car to the Mustang but they sound so much better.

They do tend to sound good (even stock). I had an '08 GT and they have a great deep rumble. This is probably why I've been unable to pull the trigger on Corsas. They get great reviews and do sound exotic, but I think the Vette should be deeper.

Still, the hateful spiteful nasty vile comment cannot go unanswered. Personally, I took it as a green light to get the catbacks.

Stock Corvettes sound like butthole. I've heard tugboats that sound better. Long tubes, an off road X-pipe, Corsa exhaust and a healthy cam takes care of it though.

If you want more of a rumble get rid of the x-pipe. Don't run any crossover at all, not even an h-pipe. That will give you more rumble.

I know it is something everyone has an opinion on as to which exhaust system sounds best, but you definitely won't go wrong with a set of Corsa's on the car. Well worth the extra money.

Another for the pic of wife!

Corsa on the left and borlas on the right ... both thru ARH headers, X-pipe then exhaust...

these two have ALL of the accessories go go along with the exhaust!

XSPower exhaust sounds great to me, no drone and gives the muscle sound when wanted, the fit is good over the axel but I ended up having the pipe to muffler welded because i could never stop the small leaks from the heavy 321 steel with the current clamps out there and they would move. After welding them, no leaks, stays in place and as always great sound

I have the GHL Bullets and am happy as hell that I do. I know it all comes down to personal preference, but the descriptive words folks here used to describe the sound of the GHLs was exactly what I wanted. Deep low rumble at idle, and just mean when I get on it. No headers or x-pipe for me yet, and frankly I' m not sure I would need it.

Words like drone, exotic, raspy I see used to describe other exhausts make me run away quickly. Can't help you find a used set, as they don't come up for sale often (that should tell you about owner satisfaction as well), and there is no way I'd sell mine. I found them used on this forum last summer and I fought hard to make them mine. Good luck

Look for some in C5 Parts or on e-Bay if you don't want to pay the price for new ones.

I must admit one of the sweetest exhaust sounds I've ever heard was my Mach 1 with Magnaflow x-pipe and catbacks. More than one person told me it was the best sounding car they'd ever heard. Apparently though, from what I've gathered reading and talking to others, the Magnaflow sounds a lot better on the 4.6 than it does on the 5.7.

While I appreciate the weight savings effort GM made for the C5 Z06 including the exhaust was a bit disappointed they didn't give a little more attention to the sound. With the car now being 10 years old this month I'm looking to swap out the stock exhaust with an after-market one. I'm tempted to go with the Billy Boat Bullet's, but I worry it might be a bit too much. And I don't think the Magnaflow would sound as good on this car. So as usual the result is I've done nothing yet, and would definitely like to hear what you decide, and what you think of it.

I've got the Bossanni exhaust on my C5's. It's pretty deep sounding with the X-over pipe and their cat back system.

If you grew up around a lot of stock C1s and C2s, you'd know that the stock Corvette exhaust sounds like a Corvette.
If you really want your Corvette to sound like a Mustang, go for it. But all things considered, a new wife might be cheaper and easier on the ears in the long run.

B&B PRT. A lot of compliments from people who pull up next to me and tell me how the car sounds good.
